00:00 Well, police say at around 10pm last night they were conducting stationary random breath
00:06 testing on Wickes Road in Ryde when they seemingly spotted a black Audi seemingly trying to evade
00:13 that testing site.
00:15 Police then stopped that vehicle here on Cox's Road in North Ryde and when they went to conduct
00:20 some checks, that car allegedly drove off towards police striking an officer.
00:25 Now police then unloaded a full round of bullets at that car windshield before it drove off.
00:31 Now the officer that was struck sustained a leg injury and he was taken to hospital
00:36 for further treatment.
00:38 Now police are still investigating exactly what's happened and no official arrest has
00:42 been made.
00:43 But what they did find after further enquiries was that car that allegedly struck the police
00:48 officer at a home in Melrose Park.
00:51 They then seized that vehicle and have taken it away for forensic examination.
00:56 No official arrest has been made like I said but police have been speaking to the occupants
01:00 of that home who are apparently coordinating with police and their enquiries at the moment.
01:06 So at the moment this investigation is still ongoing.
