00:02 - Early 2024 wide receiver rankings.
00:06 We talked quarterbacks and I think we're realizing now
00:09 more than ever to tie in the wide receiver
00:12 to the quarterback play outside of the obvious
00:15 because it really shows what a quarterback can do,
00:19 where a quarterback can go.
00:20 So let's tie the conversation and open it up
00:22 to the wide receivers.
00:23 We'll start at number one, Joe,
00:27 the consensus has Tyreek Hill.
00:29 Is that right?
00:30 - It's not wrong.
00:33 I mean, I don't know how after this year
00:35 you can't have him rank there.
00:36 He did finishes.
00:37 Well, I mean, he finishes wide receiver two and half PPR
00:40 in full point PPR also a wide receiver two.
00:43 But the first 10 games of the season were just absurd.
00:47 I mean, he was just so good.
00:49 He was up in that top.
00:50 He had two bad games over that stretch.
00:52 Other than that, he was wide receiver four or better
00:55 in almost all of them.
00:57 And then down the stretch, he did struggle.
00:59 Week 16, 17, 18 in the fantasy playoffs.
01:01 He finishes wide receiver 16, wide receiver 28
01:03 and then wide receiver 10 against the Buffalo Bills.
01:06 So that is the only thing.
01:08 Now I know they were facing Dallas defense,
01:10 the Baltimore Ravens defense.
01:11 When you're trying to draft wide receivers,
01:14 I think it's not just the wide receiver
01:16 you're talking about, but you're also the quarterback.
01:18 And I think it's tying in all those pieces and details
01:23 to try to get the best consensus pick you can.
01:26 So McCaffrey at number one, I get,
01:28 that's probably gonna be the consensus number one.
01:30 I can't fight against it.
01:31 I just, you know, it is what it is,
01:34 as the kids like to say.
01:35 But after this, you know, I think C.D. Lamb personally
01:38 is the guy that I would put at one.
01:40 This was a guy that we've been waiting for for so long
01:43 to come into his own.
01:43 He kind of had the opposite season of tiring kill
01:45 where it was a really slow start.
01:47 He was at one point, the most traded asset
01:50 in fantasy football, C.D. Lamb.
01:51 Somewhere after the first six weeks of the season,
01:53 people were out, they were done,
01:54 they were frustrated, they didn't want it.
01:56 After that stretch, I mean,
01:57 he ended up with 1,749 receiving yards,
02:01 of 135 receptions.
02:04 He had 14 touchdowns, he had some monstrous games,
02:08 and he had them when it mattered most.
02:09 So unlike Tyreek Hill, who faded in the last three weeks
02:11 in the fantasy playoffs,
02:13 you're talking about a guy who finishes wide receiver nine,
02:15 wide receiver one, and wide receiver two
02:17 over the last three games.
02:18 So I would put C.D. Lamb ahead of Tyreek Hill
02:21 and ahead of Justin Jefferson going into this year
02:23 because we still have that unknown.
02:25 Now we'll see if Kirk Cousins comes back.
02:27 Jefferson being back at number one, I got no problem with.
02:30 Tyreek Hill also a little older than these guys.
02:32 So for me, you know, looking at kind of the overall picture,
02:37 Lamb and Jefferson, we can flip-flop them back and forth,
02:40 but I think Hill is really the third guy for me, not the one.
02:43 I understand why he's the consensus one.
02:44 I get it, it's just an easy thing to plug in there.
02:47 But at the same time, you also can put in Jamar Chase,
02:50 who I thought was going to win
02:51 offensive player of the year this year.
02:53 And I was wrong about that.
02:54 I'll take the L.
02:55 We'll never know because we didn't get Joe Burrow playing
02:57 and got Joe Burrow playing healthy.
02:59 If we could just get Burrow and Chase healthy
03:03 for an entire season together, I would be so happy.
03:07 That's all I want.
03:08 That's all I want for Christmas this year,
03:09 is those two guys healthy for 17 games playing together,
03:13 because I think it would be magical.
03:14 You just haven't gotten it yet quite at the NFL level.
03:18 But Chase is another guy I think you put at this list.
03:20 Now, as you look here,
03:22 all these guys are first round talents in my opinion,
03:24 including Amon Ross St. Brown at number five.
03:26 If you're in full point PPRs
03:28 and you are in that middle of a draft,
03:30 I can't think of a better investment
03:32 than Amon Ross St. Brown.
03:34 He is so steady, Matt, every single week.
03:37 You know what you're getting in terms of the target volume.
03:39 You know how many hundred yard games he's going to have,
03:41 which is a crap ton.
03:43 You know that he has touchdown equity.
03:45 He had 10 last year.
03:47 He saw 164 targets last season.
03:50 1,515 yards, an incredible amount of volume.
03:55 164 targets is enormous, not to mention the 119 receptions.
04:00 So to me, Amon Ross St. Brown might be the best
04:03 number four, five, six overall pick
04:06 that you could possibly make.
04:07 And I think he is going to go behind these guys.
04:10 So the guys that you see ahead of him,
04:12 Hill, Lamb, Jefferson, Chase, throw in McCaffrey,
04:16 all of a sudden, guess what?
04:17 We're in the middle of the draft.
04:18 In the middle of draft,
04:19 email Amon Ross St. Brown, I'm going to take him.
04:21 And I think he is that quintessential value on the board.
04:24 So let's talk about that,
04:25 because I think that he is still undervalued
04:28 and underappreciated.
04:29 Do you think he is?
04:30 Because it seems like,
04:31 although he's now moved up to this elite territory,
04:34 I feel like people still have a hard time calling him elite.
04:36 And I don't think they should have a problem
04:38 with that anymore.
