00:00Let's talk about Anthony Richardson.
00:06I made it very clear on this show why he got benched one.
00:10It's because he quit in the middle of an NFL game and said he was tired and needed to go
00:16sit down and have a drink.
00:19That's why he's been benched because you can't have that from a 22 year old top pick quarterback
00:27who has done nothing but get injured, and then he quits on his team?
00:30Are you kidding me?
00:32He doesn't understand why he got benched?
00:34I said today already, how stupid are you?
00:37Let me tell you something from covering this business for decades.
00:41If Richardson started this week, Shane Stike and their head coach could have lost the locker
00:45room.
00:46I'm telling you.
00:47Right.
00:48That'll never go over well with veteran players.
00:50I get it.
00:51I know they're not happy because they've got that quarterback carousel which DeFarge Buckner
00:55talked about, but the bottom line is you can't do that.
00:58The quarterback is the leader of the football team, okay?
01:01Not just the head coach.
01:02It's the quarterback.
01:04They look to the quarterback to get the job done, and by the way, Richardson, after that
01:06great start last season, he was great, but he got hurt with his shoulder.
01:10He's been awful this season.
01:11That's the other part of this that people have to understand.
01:13He struggled mightily, but you can't check out of a game.
01:17That's inexcusable.
01:18Now, the book on him from a scouting standpoint, very talented, but immature.
01:24You just saw it last week.
01:25He's got to get it.
01:26Talk about not getting it.
01:28Now, he's going to get it off the sidelines.
01:30Joe Flacco will start the rest of the season.
01:32How about this story?
01:34I'm talking to people close to him.
01:37He didn't have an offer from another team, Scott.
01:40Not one.
01:41There wouldn't be a backup.
01:43How ridiculous is that?
01:44Flacco's better than half the starting quarterbacks in the National Football League right now,
01:46hands down.
01:47Listen, Joe Flacco, in the game against Jacksonville, the two tutties he threw to Pierce
01:54late in the game, in the fourth quarter, to get him back in the game were so just brilliant
01:59passes.
02:00It was unbelievable.
02:01Watch.
02:02I cannot believe they actually lost that game.
02:04The way he brought them back in that game and got them tied, and then they give up the
02:07late field goal and lose to that crappy team, I almost fell over.
02:10But let's face facts.
02:13Flacco, whenever he plays, whether it was in Baltimore, he won a Super Bowl ring.
02:18Whether it was in Cleveland, he was phenomenal.
02:22You think famous Jameis was good last week.
02:24This guy Flacco did it for like 10 weeks and took him to the playoffs.
02:29He was incredible.
02:30And he is just really a smart, veteran-savvy, arm-throwing quarterback.
02:36As good as they come in the NFL, he's the best backup in the entire league.
02:39Scott, he's got the strongest arm I've seen live.
02:42I've covered Joe since his days at Delaware, saw him play at Villanova in the fall of 2007.
02:49I was on the field.
02:51He looked like an absolute cannon, and he's still doing it at 38 years old.
02:55By the way, he's a really good athlete, better than you think.
02:57He can still move.
02:59And this is a guy, you mentioned it, he put the Browns on their back last season to make
03:05the playoffs.
03:06Yes, it ended in Houston, but he brought them back to somehow get in the playoffs.
03:12He could get them to be a wild card.
03:14There's no question about it.
03:15This is a move they had to make.
03:17Say this about Shane Steichen.
03:19He was decisive.
03:20They're not going to back the Richardson unless Flacco gets hurt.
