Hopkins in WSU Postgame

UW coach Mike Hopkins offered his thoughts on the overtime loss.

00:13 Felt like the biggest concern that we had was it was rebounding.

00:18 We obviously didn't do a great job stopping, they scored five or

00:22 six of the last possessions in regulation.

00:25 But for the most part, the times that they did miss,

00:28 they did a good job of getting some good second chance points and

00:31 some second chance opportunities.

00:33 There was 19 more shots that they got.

00:37 But we still put ourselves in position, offensively we were able to score.

00:40 We had the opportunity to go up three, put a smaller lineup,

00:48 we were gonna switch foul, we missed it unfortunately.

00:51 They came down, scored really quick and hats off to them.

00:56 Second half, couple turnovers here where we couldn't get shots.

01:00 And we had a hard time tonight guarding in the post.

01:03 I thought they did a really good job, Hunso, Jalen Wells, Isaac Jones,

01:10 they've cluffed, they're all really good in the post.

01:12 They really tried to expose that.

01:14 We started firing, double teaming.

01:18 It worked for a pretty good chunk and

01:21 then one bad rotation, Miles Rice hit a dagger to go up three.

01:27 That was the game.

01:28 But I was proud of how we fought.

01:31 I don't think we executed how we had to close the game and those types of things.

01:35 But I felt like we fought against a really good team in a rivalry game.

01:40 I'm sick for our fans because it was pretty good.

01:45 We just couldn't get some stops when we needed to get some stops.

01:50 That's just the bottom line.
