King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer
Buckingham Palace has revealed King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer.

00:00 I was devastated like I'm sure most Australians of goodwill were. A diagnosis of that nature
00:07 for anybody is not the sort of news you would want. And I think many Australians who have
00:15 either had that diagnosis for themselves or for a close member of their family would understand
00:21 what King Charles and his family is going through as we speak. So difficult times for
00:28 him but it's wonderful to know that he can continue on with his official state roles
00:34 and the paperwork, albeit he won't be able to go out in public and of course that's fully
00:39 understandable. And it's a timely reminder for all of us to have regular check-ups and
00:45 if there is something that we think is wrong with us, let's not be too stoic about these
00:51 things and see if there is some medical condition which in its early stages can usually be treated
00:58 Charles and Camilla were expected to tour Australia towards the end of this year. Was
01:04 that a tour that was confirmed, locked in? It was relatively locked in as I understand
01:11 it. There was the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Samoa and the palace had indicated
01:17 a desire to visit Australia in association with that visit to Samoa. The constitutional
01:25 monarchy in action, be it with the unfortunate passing of Her Majesty, then the coronation
01:32 which included Australia in some very significant aspects. It warms people to the constitutional
01:39 monarchy, a system which has served us so very well for over 120 years and a system
01:47 might I add that is adopted in countries like Denmark as we have been reminded of with Queen
01:54 Mary or Mary Donaldson becoming Queen Mary of Denmark. So constitutional monarchies are
02:01 alive and well doing exceptionally good work in dynamic democracies like Denmark, like
02:08 Australia and like the United Kingdom.
