00:00 (upbeat music)
00:03 - So, when we come back, we'll be talking about
00:06 this Super Bowl matchup because we talked a lot about,
00:08 well, what can Mahomes do?
00:09 What can Purdy, what can the coaches do?
00:11 We'll really dive in on what Patrick Mahomes can do
00:14 versus his 49ers defense and what Brock Purdy can do
00:17 against this Chiefs defense.
00:19 It's just, obviously, they're connected to
00:21 how this game will be dictated.
00:23 How much will it be dictated?
00:25 We can lay it out all we want,
00:27 but there's always going to be a break,
00:29 a fumble, an interception, a special team's play
00:32 that don't account for coaching mistakes,
00:34 but these teams are disciplined.
00:36 What types of penalties will be called?
00:38 We talk about officiating a lot,
00:39 and I think a big part of what we talk about
00:42 with officiating is how tight is this game
00:44 going to be called?
00:46 These Chiefs corners, these Niners corners.
00:49 Avery Thomas got called for a lot of penalties
00:51 in this playoff run for the Niners.
00:54 Does that play a factor again
00:56 when we're talking about Rasheed Rice,
00:58 Patrick Mahomes trying to take shots downfield?
01:01 These chunk plays via penalty can be part of a strategy
01:05 as teams get this far into the season
01:09 when you get desperate, right?
01:10 The Niners actually got desperate
01:12 in the NFC Championship game,
01:13 and a bounce off the helmet from a defensive back
01:16 lands in the hands of Brandon Iuk
01:17 and leads to a touchdown
01:19 that completely turned around the game.
01:20 So, when we come back,
01:22 it's a Patrick Mahomes comparison
01:24 to a Brock Purdy comparison.
01:25 I will take a look at their props.
01:28 What, who is more likely to hit their player props,
01:32 passing yards, passing touchdowns,
01:35 passing attempts a bigger part of how this scheme will look.
01:39 So, when we come back, I'll be doing that.
01:41 Then Donnie Wrightside right after that
01:43 to talk Super Bowl MVPs live
01:45 from the Betam GM Sportsbook here in Las Vegas.
01:47 (upbeat music)
01:57 - If you're going to say, yes, of course,
01:59 the playoffs started and now the Chiefs
02:00 are the best team in the league, fine.
02:03 I think that's wrong.
02:05 And I think it is going to be close to impossible
02:08 for the Chiefs to now play their,
02:11 for the third week in a row,
02:12 their best game of the season.
02:14 - Travis Kelsey has put back-to-back games together
02:17 for the first time all season long, and he's the go-to.
02:20 - Pro football today, only on Sports Grid.
02:26 (upbeat music)
02:28 - Don't want any distractions.
02:30 And Vinny, on the eve of these teams getting to Las Vegas,
02:34 we got a distraction.
02:36 - We know that there's some family issues,
02:39 not only with his dad there,
02:40 but his brother has had a lot of run-ins here
02:43 that have not looked good for the quarterback.
02:46 But again, he's a different guy.
02:48 I think we've understood that.
02:49 - Newswire, only on Sports Grid.
02:53 (upbeat music)
02:56 - Jordan Clarkson.
02:59 Jordan Clarkson is a walking bucket.
03:04 He will shoot you in games, he will shoot you out of games.
03:08 But he is the perfect sixth man
03:12 for a team looking for bench production.
03:17 A guy that can go get his own shot.
03:20 - Betting above the rim, only on Sports Grid.
03:24 (upbeat music)
03:27 - The fact that they're gonna try to run Pacheco
03:30 down San Francisco's throat,
03:32 as much as McCaffrey's gonna get the ball for San Francisco,
03:36 I think both of them will play well.
03:39 - I think if the Niners win this game, Scotty,
03:41 I think McCaffrey is the guy.
03:43 I think he has a monster game for the Niners to win that.
03:46 I think it's gonna have his fingerprints all over it.
03:49 If it does happen.
03:50 - Pharrell coast to coast, only on Sports Grid.

04:04 - Well, look at the hype and the early line.
04:06 - And what it all means, individual success.
04:09 - You should have tried to get something
04:10 for Anthony Rendon, not fought at this deadline.
04:13 - Newswire.
04:13 - We're getting a lot of news, trades, cuts,
04:16 and some movement in terms of starting quarterbacks.
04:18 - Pharrell coast to coast.
04:20 - I wanna watch great players make buckets and win games.
04:23 - Game time decisions.
04:25 - You have no idea what the heck the Blazers are doing
04:29 and what they're doing.
04:29 - In game live, prime time.
04:32 - Just put them yard for a grand slam.
04:35 - The bottom of the fourth inning
04:36 in a 12 to two baseball game.
04:38 We got football scores going on at Wrigley right now.
04:41 - Sports Ring late night.
04:42 - That was good betting.
04:42 We waited for one and a half, we got paid.
04:44 - Yeah.
04:45 - Didn't like the two and a half, jumped on it.
04:47 - Don't take it weeks off in golf betting, ever.
04:49 These are the best weeks to bet.
04:52 - It's smarter to be on Sports Grid.

04:58 (upbeat music)
05:01 - Back at the Bet MGM Sportsbook,
05:20 Mike Blewett here with you all week.
05:23 Sports Grid Live from Las Vegas.
05:25 We'll have Donnie Rightside coming on in the next segment.
05:27 But what we want to talk about right now
05:29 is the quarterback comparisons.
05:30 How did they get here?
05:31 What do these stats look like?
05:32 Brock Purdy's regular season stats, 4,280 yards,
05:36 a 69% completion percentage,
05:39 31 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
05:42 A tremendous season that found him
05:44 right in the thick of the MVP discussion.
05:46 Probably going the way of Lamar Jackson,
05:48 but Brock Purdy put himself in position
05:50 to win that award this season.
05:51 Incredible second year season.
05:53 I hate calling him Mr. Irrelevant.
05:55 I know people like that.
05:56 I find it disrespectful for a guy that nearly won the MVP
06:00 and finds himself as a starter on a Super Bowl,
06:02 a potential Super Bowl champion.
06:04 So his playoff stats, 519 yards completion percentage, 61%.
06:09 Playing against better defenses, yes,
06:12 but the 69 to 61% dip,
06:15 was that impacted solely by the weather
06:17 that we saw against Green Bay?
06:19 Weather not a factor here.
06:21 Good thing for Brock Purdy.
06:22 You remember the two gloves, no glove,
06:24 what's happening in the rain in Brock
06:26 was a little ineffective early on in that game.
06:29 So two touchdowns to one pick so far in their two games.
06:34 In his career, five playoff games over a thousand yards,
06:37 63% completion percentage,
06:39 five touchdowns to one interception.
06:42 I think though, I have to be honest
06:44 about my thoughts about Brock Purdy.
06:46 I'm rooting for the guy.
06:47 I love the story.
06:48 For years here, I've covered college football
06:52 and pro football for SportsGrid.
06:55 And I remember Joe Lisi, our buddy on college football
06:58 and pro football today,
07:00 we were there for Brock Purdy's big breakout season
07:02 at Iowa State and he and Brees Hall were humming.
07:05 It was a great story to follow.
07:07 The Cyclones were a fun team to follow
07:09 and to see him now in this position,
07:11 I never would have predicted that,
07:13 but it's great to see him in this position.
07:15 But what are his player props look like
07:18 for this upcoming week?
07:19 Well, right now, Bet MGM Sportsbook,
07:22 it's a handy dandy sheet.
07:24 Total right now, total yardage, 245 and a half,
07:27 total passing touchdowns, one and a half,
07:30 minus 125 to the over.
07:33 Interceptions, a half, again, minus 115.
07:36 So expectations even, like, does he not throw one?
07:39 Does he throw one?
07:40 Obviously this is a team that relies heavily
07:43 on their running backs.
07:43 So how many passing attempts do you see from Brock Purdy?
07:46 Which that line is set at 31 and a half.
07:49 His rushing yards, which Brock Purdy,
07:51 probably the single most valuable part of his game
07:54 against the Lions, not something we're expecting to see,
07:57 over 50 yards rushing for Brock Purdy
07:59 in the NFC Championship game.
08:01 So there's your lines, that's what you're looking at.
08:04 I think the only way you're getting over
08:05 on the Brock Purdy passing attempts
08:07 is if they're trailing by a significant amount.
08:10 I don't think the Niners like to get thrown off their game.
08:13 They absolutely like to play from in front,
08:15 but you'd have to be in a serious position
08:17 for the Niners to be throwing that many times,
08:21 a 10-point deficit, potentially.
08:24 The Niners are down seven points, it's not panic time.
08:26 They can run their way back into it
08:28 with arguably the best running back in the league.
08:31 But I have to be honest about my thoughts now
08:33 about Brock Purdy.
08:34 Like I said, I'm rooting for him,
08:37 but all the questions that I had about the Niners
08:41 going into this season were related to Brock Purdy.
08:45 I thought the roster was good enough.
08:46 I thought they were certainly clearly good enough
08:48 to win the NFC and overtake the Eagles,
08:51 but it's about these pressure-filled games.
08:54 He has proven that he can pull it off,
08:57 but in the biggest game with the biggest spotlight,
09:00 he's passed the test so far,
09:02 but can he do it against his Steve Spagnuolo defense
09:07 that will throw every single thing at him?
09:09 I think he'll always have that question,
09:11 as will Kyle Shanahan, hanging over his head
09:14 until he's holding up that Lombardi trophy.
09:16 I absolutely think it's a possibility, but it's still.
09:20 Brock Purdy against Patrick Mahomes
09:22 is an important question to ask, and can he outplay him?
09:25 Can he play well enough to complement
09:27 the rest of his offense to win this game?
09:30 I think it's still a question that rattles around in my head.
