00:00 Four months into the war in Gaza and a proposed ceasefire plan is being considered.
00:06 Hamas officials have responded to an Israeli-US backed proposal,
00:10 which was sent last week by Qatari and Egyptian mediators,
00:13 with their own version of a three-phase plan.
00:16 Lasting 135 days, it would ultimately see a total withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
00:23 The militant group released a statement on their Telegram page.
00:28 "The movement dealt with the proposal in a positive spirit,
00:31 ensuring a comprehensive and complete ceasefire and ending the aggression against our people.
00:36 It guarantees relief, shelter, reconstruction, the lifting of the siege on the Gaza Strip
00:42 and the completion of a prisoner exchange."
00:45 Under the deal, Phase 1 would last 45 days,
00:49 see all Israeli women, males under 19, elderly and sick hostages released.
00:55 Palestinian women and children would be released from Israeli jails
00:59 and Israeli troops would withdraw from populated areas.
01:02 Phase 2 would see the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas
01:07 and a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
01:11 And Phase 3, the exchange of bodies and remains.
01:15 By this stage, Hamas expects both sides to have reached an agreement to end the war.
01:21 The truce would also see an increase in much-needed aid in Gaza,
01:26 where according to the UN, the entire population of over 2 million people
01:31 is in food crisis, with hundreds of thousands at risk of starvation.
