00:03 - Now listen, I'm always telling people my stories
00:05 from over the years and people always say,
00:06 Morancy, you need to write a book.
00:08 And I've started, but it's not easy, right?
00:12 And it's like, oh, well, what do you do this?
00:13 Do you do that?
00:14 - Yeah.
00:15 - You've accomplished so many things in your life,
00:16 but you love challenges.
00:18 How challenging was actually putting
00:20 all your stories together?
00:21 - You have no idea.
00:22 So first of all, I have 19 different ladies in this book.
00:25 So the one chapter is about my journey
00:27 and then the rest are about Billie Jean King, Layla Ali,
00:30 Danica Patrick, all the first--
00:31 - Different inspirations to you
00:33 and different women that inspired you.
00:35 - Mary Lou Retton, Men on Réum, you know what I mean?
00:38 So all the first, and it was really tough
00:41 because I had to first book them
00:42 and you know everyone's schedule.
00:43 Then I had to interview them and do a Zoom.
00:45 Then I had to break that down and transcribe that,
00:47 then write the chapters, then do edits.
00:50 It was, let's just say,
00:51 when you're finally gonna write a book, you'll see,
00:53 it's kind of a, it's a lot.
00:55 - How amazing was it to speak?
00:57 And you've been around great people for years, right?
01:01 You know, working with the Laker Organization
01:03 and you know, the San Francisco 49ers.
01:05 But what was it like meeting all these individual champions,
01:09 these women that are the same but different, right?
01:12 They're also, what was the common theme?
01:14 I guess the fire and the passion?
01:16 - Yes, but also it was the sacrifices that some, you know,
01:19 were saying, "I sacrificed so much.
01:21 "I didn't spend time with my family enough.
01:23 "I didn't have a family.
01:24 "I don't have, I missed my high school prom."
01:27 You know what I mean?
01:28 Like little things that maybe we don't--
01:29 - That is common.
01:30 I can't imagine life was easy in Romania.
01:32 - Yeah, right. - And you know what?
01:33 - Right. - The perfect 10, actually,
01:35 in Montreal, with the Montreal Four.
01:36 - Yes, exactly.
01:37 And so for me, it was like, oh my gosh,
01:39 we all have that common, you know, interest and sacrifice.
01:42 Like me, like I didn't have, you know,
01:43 I ended up never getting married and not having kids yet
01:45 because I've always been married to my career.
01:47 And I'm like, wow, these ladies are the same thing.
01:49 And also having to have perfection, Gabe,
01:51 if that makes sense.
01:52 When you're a female, under this like microscope,
01:54 not making any mistakes 'cause everything else
01:56 is more glorified when you're a woman.
01:58 All those different things like resonated.
02:00 Like we all kind of deal with that.
02:01 And there was a lot of tears in some of these interviews.
02:04 Like Danica Patrick started crying
02:05 when she was talking about her father.
02:06 And like things that, you know,
02:07 Danica's pretty like stoic.
02:09 - Yeah. - You know, and she was,
02:10 she's crying, and I was like, wow.
02:11 And Leila Ali's saying, "Hey, thank you so much
02:13 "for talking about my story,
02:15 "not that my dad was a legend."
02:18 Do you know what I mean?
02:18 So it was pretty neat to encompass all these ladies
02:21 into one book.
02:22 Some of them have their own books,
02:24 but this was like one book that like young ladies
02:26 can read about and say, oh wow,
02:27 there's a space for me in sports.
02:29 Whether it's, you know, on the field,
02:30 on the ice, in the front office,
02:32 whatever it may be, there's a space for me.
02:34 - You've done a lot, you've accomplished a lot,
02:36 but is this something that you're most proud of?
02:37 Because I have to imagine it is.
02:39 - Yeah, it absolutely is.
02:40 Just because it took a while.
02:41 There was a lot of publishers
02:42 that didn't wanna buy into it.
02:43 They're like, oh, that's great,
02:44 but no, they wanted a little more train wreck-y,
02:47 something with a little more like a tell-all.
02:49 - Gossip or, yeah. - They wanted me
02:50 to do a tell-all.
02:51 They said, oh, will you do a tell-all
02:52 when you're with the Cowboys and the Niners and the Lakers?
02:55 And I'm like, no, I would never do that.
02:55 - That's not what it's about, yeah.
02:57 - Right, and so it kinda took a while,
02:59 and then finally Roman and Littlefield were like,
03:01 no, we love this.
03:02 And it's been pretty awesome,
03:03 because right away I've been getting really good reception.
03:05 Mothers, young women, direct message to me saying,
03:08 oh my gosh, my daughter is so elated
03:10 that now she knows I can read this
03:11 and know that there's not just a dream,
03:13 but they actually can make it.
