Lewis Cox and Jonny Drury reflect on West Brom's 2-2 draw at Ipswich Town.
Transcript
00:00 Welcome to Express@Starter.com. My name is Jonny Drouin. I'm here in a bit of a dreary
00:12 Portman Road after Albion have picked up one in the context of it. It was a pretty good point on
00:16 the road. 2-2 against Ipswich but late heartbreaker. Mari Hutchinson grabbing a injury time equaliser
00:23 but that wasn't really the story. Darrell Deakey, Kyle Bartley which we will come on to and you'll
00:29 get a lot of reaction over the coming days. But Coxsey taking a point at the start of the day.
00:35 Honestly I don't know where to start with that really. It was so many talking points, emotions.
00:42 I don't know if many people thought Albion would come and lead twice here and obviously if they
00:49 did you'd hope they'd be taking a rare away win away. Let's be honest, we drove down this morning
00:55 didn't we and what did we say? I know I said and I've written that it'd be a good point here but
01:00 obviously the manner of the point conceding in stoppage times, gut-wrenching really and it's
01:05 not the only gut-wrenching thing of the day let's be honest. The result and everything is
01:10 overshadowed right now totally by what's happened to Darrell Deakey which we'll get into. Crazy game,
01:15 I mean how long ago does that Tom Fellows goal feel? It was like a different lifetime ago. It's
01:19 a long time since I've gone to bed this morning. Yeah well yeah quite. A long time since Tom Fellows
01:23 scored. On the Fellows goal Coxey, we'll just start there because obviously we're going to talk
01:28 about the injury in a second or the injuries in a second but Tom Fellow, two fantastic individual
01:33 goals, great strike from John Swift, dropped and responded really well today. But Tom Fellows,
01:40 what a fantastic goal. Probably it was 80-20 against him when he was battling for the ball
01:45 with the centre-half, turned him into dust, could have gone down, cut inside. What a clever,
01:52 clever finish as well. Every time he does something like that I keep thinking about
01:58 how much his valuation goes up and how many more eyes are going to be on him because they are.
02:02 At the moment he keeps maybe surprising us but not surprising us. Nah, he's just class,
02:11 he was just class. He had no right to get the ball like he said Wyman put it forward didn't he and
02:18 Fellows was by no way favourite. Was it Wolfenden? Luke Wolfenden, the centre-half,
02:22 was ahead of the race to it and yeah he's a big old lad isn't he, Wolfenden. And Fellows just
02:28 shrugged him off and held him off. Dinked past him, too quick, too clever, looked like he was
02:34 going to bend it far corner as he'd already tried in the opening seconds and just the way he dragged
02:38 it near post gave the Czech goalkeeper Fladke no chance. It was genius wasn't it? I loved it,
02:44 what a moment, great moment. Third goal in five games I think for Fellows which is second in the
02:49 league now. Amazing really, a great moment, what a talent he is. A few baggies I saw said it reminded
02:58 them of a certain Harvey Barnes goal, I think Chef Wednesday was it and I was speaking to some
03:02 people about that. Obviously we all know the player Harvey Barnes was for Arbyn and we all know what
03:07 the player he's become and will continue to become so that's big praise. At different stages of their
03:13 development obviously but Harvey Barnes is alone and Tom Fellows is very much Arbyn's isn't he and
03:17 obviously signed a new deal and yeah you're right, I mean this was on telly today but that would have
03:22 needed to be on telly, it would have already had and has many clubs watching and yeah they'd have
03:28 been impressed with that I think. Yeah they would have been impressed, good performance from Arbyn,
03:31 grounded out, had to re-jig things. Obviously Kyle Bartley went off at the break, Carlos Corbijn
03:36 as you can read on the Expressenstar.com has confirmed that that was a calf injury which
03:40 they're waiting to see on but the big news is obviously Daryl Dekay and you know a fourth,
03:45 potentially fourth big setback. We don't know an awful lot about it at the moment as Carlos Corbijn
03:50 has confirmed that they're going to be awaiting for scan results and it's too early to tell and
03:54 there needs to be patience but I asked fans about this outside Coxley and fans have you know
03:59 understandably questioned what the future holds for Daryl Dekay. Now it's not as easy as you know
04:04 people on social media going you know sell him, get rid of him, you know that's not the case you
04:08 know that's not going to happen but you just can't help but fear, you can't catch a break. You saw
04:13 how much it means to Daryl Dekay and I think the response from the majority of people and from what
04:18 we know you know people we know within the inner sanctums of Arbyn and how well they think of
04:23 Daryl Dekay you know you just I could scarcely believe that it was another serious one you know
04:28 I didn't think it was to start with and then it sort of... I have to say I did. It was a minute
04:31 that went by it was no more serious but you know you can't help but feel for him and there's not
04:35 an awful lot we can really say on it at the moment because we haven't got many details but
04:38 you know it's another stroke of bad luck. It's gutting Johnny, it's so sad to be honest it's
04:46 really sad and I look Arbyn fans with their passionate Arbyn heads on are thinking about
04:51 we need to win games, we need to get in the top six and it's all true and right of course it is and
04:56 Dekay can score goals and we're all frustrated in that we want to see him fit and play but
05:02 I mean by the time you had that second injury in the summer of Bruce before the start of the season
05:07 you're thinking of two muscle problems in the first six months but to have that to have and
05:13 so we've had it confirmed this is Achilles problem again it's the Achilles area he's hurt again.
05:19 Quotes he said was it felt similar to Stoke. What happened in April. Honestly I think Carlos is
05:25 trying to you know trying to get Dekay to be patient but you know we send out wishes to him.
05:32 Yeah we do absolutely it's the other leg isn't it that's worth highlighting that the Achilles
05:36 injury in Stoke for out for eight or nine months it's the other one. I'm not a medical expert I
05:42 don't know if another Achilles is more likely after a first one just you know even on the
05:47 other leg I don't know but as soon as he went down it was an innocuous sort of thing I noticed he
05:52 went down and sort of put his arms up to the ref as if to say that that was a foul like and nothing
05:59 was given it was a nothing incident really and then I just noticed him sort of slump on his
06:03 backside and his head dropped. My heart sunk a bit really. His eyes was cutting and it's overshadowed
06:09 look despite Ipswich going a 93rd minute equaliser which is very hard to take given I think
06:16 how well Albin defended overall resilience to a man I mean they were blocking everything weren't
06:23 they throwing themselves on everything Ipswich I don't think had created much overall so despite
06:28 the heartbreak of that and Maury Hutchinson goal you know a player obviously Carlos Corcoran
06:33 fancied at Albin over the years despite that the overriding emotion for me right now and I think
06:39 probably most is the DK news. We don't know obviously we would be speculating but obviously
06:44 if the injury is as bad as the last one you know you obviously want future again this season but
06:49 we have to wait on that it's gut-wrenching for him but Albin's prospects I think
06:55 just a real blow and thoughts as you said rightly with him right now how his emotions must be how
07:04 his mental state must be I mean to see him wheeled off in that buggy in tears some harrowing photos
07:11 really on our site aren't they of him in tears and it was a nice moment when Swift scored 10 minutes
07:16 later as you said he'd been dropped and scored a cracking goal didn't need to go 2-1. I thought
07:20 Albin really rallied after the DK injury and improved and went for it which you know took
07:25 some real I think they deserve a lot of praise for that and great goal again Swift big moment
07:30 for him not scoring since that injury in early October and he went and sort of sought out DK in
07:35 that corner didn't he where DK had gone off and it was a nice moment but as I put in my intro to
07:41 my match report with no shortage of things to write about it a bit heartbreaking on two counts today
07:45 with the late goal conceded two points dropped obviously a rare away win the sort of in touching
07:50 distance wasn't it and it would have been a statement winning yes these are wobbling but
07:54 the attacking power they now possess on the bench it's so close to that victory here but
08:00 I do think and I've said this after four times a lot can be taken I think once it has settles
08:04 today in terms of that away performance that is probably good enough to beat most sides on the
08:08 road this season and hopefully not that away clean sheet that was required but conceded that
08:15 that's the first goal conceded 46 seconds 50 seconds after half time was a killer wasn't it
08:19 so frustrating but definitely something to build on in terms of the away record but um yeah thoughts
08:25 for DK and just tough to take after that late goal. Tough to take indeed final score here at a
08:30 noisy now Portman Road M62 Albion 2 all the rest of the reaction you know where to go expressorstart.com
