You may of heard of a banquet but have you ever heard of an anti banquet? Bristols anti banquet is staged as a partnership between Team Canteen, The Pony Chew Valley, Ashton Gate Stadium, Team Love and Plaster. It is made possible by generous donations from sponsors including Bristol Beer Factory and Arthur David. Sponsoring companies will each be given a table to donate to a good cause or to use for team members who wouldn’t usually get to attend celebration events.

00:00 You may have heard of a banquet, but have you ever heard of an anti-banquet?
00:06 Josh Egleton and his community food company Team Canteen with the aim to create a sustainable
00:14 revenue source for Bristol's food charities and organisations trying to eliminate food poverty
00:22 in the city of Bristol. Let's chat to Josh to find out more.
00:26 So what have we got coming up? We've got the anti-banquet coming up. It's been an idea for
00:34 the last two or three years, finally getting it done this year. And what is it? The anti-banquet
00:40 in its essence really is a form of equality. It's sort of using the charity banquet sector
00:48 to do what it does best, but also to intersect with community at a point that makes sure that
00:55 everybody enjoys it. Bristol's anti-banquet is staged as a partnership between Team Canteen,
01:03 the Pony Chew Valley, Ashton Gate Stadium, Team Love and Plaster. It is made possible
01:09 by generous donations from sponsors, including Bristol Beer Factory and Arthur David Sponsorship
01:16 Companies, which will be giving a table to donate to a good cause or to use for team members who
01:23 wouldn't usually get to attend celebrations or events like this. Let's chat to Josh to find out
01:29 more. What's happening is that we're going out to large business, Bristol business, creating a
01:34 Bristol business network, which obviously exists, but we're tapping into that. We're selling tables
01:40 to this business network. And then we're saying to the MDs and the CEOs and the owners of these
01:44 companies that you can't actually come and eat in this banquet. You've got to invite your workforce
01:49 or parts of community that your company intersects with, or give it to one of the services, NHS,
01:56 police. So to say thank you for the community that pre-exists within Bristol. Then what we do
02:04 with those MDs and CEOs is you say, don't worry, you're still coming. You're going to come and work
02:08 and you're going to come and help us. So we're getting these guys to be serving their workforce,
02:13 thereby the workforce going to something they've never been to before. We're going to roll the
02:17 red carpet. We're going to have loads of music. We're going to have live band. We're going to have
02:22 DJs. We're going to have a little circus. We're going to have some comedians as compers. Give
02:26 everybody a fantastic night, you know, so it's not just about the food. CEOs and leadership from the
02:32 sponsoring businesses will be given the chance to cook in the kitchen alongside some of the UK's
02:39 most esteemed chefs and invited to take over serving the guests. For me, I think it's important
02:45 that we give back, that our companies intersect with the community and how we do that. What I
02:52 want to establish is how do I, to the most wide range of people, how do I get to people that are
02:58 able to normally come and eat in one of our restaurants. Only time will tell the success
03:03 of the anti-banquet.
