00:00 The provinces affected by El Niño were reduced in the hope,

00:05 but the Pinsalas Agriculture should not give up,

00:08 especially since Pinsalas Agriculture is already worth millions of pesos

00:11 among the two most affected regions.

00:14 And Maris Umali got it right.

00:16 Even among the farmers who were supposed to get water,

00:23 almost none remained.

00:24 That's why it's more important for the farmers

00:27 to dry their vegetables in Ventara, Ilocos Norte.

00:31 The level of San Cristobal Dam in the town of Sarat

00:35 in both provinces has also dropped,

00:37 which is now in charge of the municipality

00:38 and especially the production of tobacco.

00:42 In Dampa, the water supply is increasing.

00:44 But El Niño's Pinsalas is the most affected

00:47 among the plants in Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula,

00:51 which is worth 150 million pesos.

00:53 For rice, it's 141.24 million.

01:02 And then for corn, that's 10.04 million.

01:07 So, only two regions are severely affected.

01:12 But as I said, the task force is doing all it can

01:19 to help the farmers affected by the situation.

01:23 The irrigation canals will be continuously built

01:26 to ensure a better water supply.

01:29 There are also grants being given to farmers

01:32 in the most affected regions,

01:34 especially Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula.

01:38 There's social protection and alternative means of livelihood

01:45 in the area.

01:47 Our approach to El Niño is, number one, intervention.

01:52 Number two, mitigation.

01:54 According to the task force,

01:57 only 41 provinces are affected by the situation.

01:59 El Niño is affected by the situation

02:01 from the previous 50 provinces.

02:03 14 provinces are experiencing drought.

02:06 Dry spell in 10 provinces

02:08 and dry conditions in 17 others.
