00:00 Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Thursday February 15th.
00:06 Hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day. Just bringing you some of our headlines as usual
00:11 this morning. First up, a piece I put out yesterday afternoon following the snow and
00:17 heavy rainfall over the weekend coming into this week. There's a Doncaster Road which
00:24 is still flooded and is impassable to traffic. That's at Syke House, so if you can avoid
00:30 that please do so. Hopefully it will subside very shortly. Then we have a really, really
00:38 good piece from our local democracy reporter, Shannon. She had an exclusive interview with
00:45 the South Yorkshire Mayor, Oliver Coppard, and asked him some questions about the future
00:51 of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. But really, we know there's been a lot of to-and-fro-ing
00:57 between political heads, bickering and point-scoring, but this is an actually frank interview about
01:06 what he's trying to achieve working with other people and will the airport actually open
01:15 because that's the question that everyone just wants answering. So that's a really good
01:20 piece. If you are interested in the airport and what's going on there, I suggest you read
01:25 that. I think you'll enjoy it. And then we've got one that came from the police, two Doncaster
01:32 burglars who've been jailed after what have been called devastating raids on city businesses.
01:39 They've been plundering an awful lot of goods, but finally they've been put behind bars,
01:45 thankfully. So you can read that today as well. For those three stories, for anything
01:50 else that's happening in Doncaster, just visit the website www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk
01:56 and of course we'll keep you updated on X and Facebook as well. Hope you enjoy the rest
02:01 of your day.
