39-year-old lorry driver M. Gopala Krishnan pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court in Melaka on Friday (Feb 16) to a charge of cheating a company owner of RM1.029 million last year.

00:12 M Gopalakrishnan was accused of cheating 69-year-old Yap Ko Chang by deceiving the victim into
00:18 believing that he could help him secure a tender for the lease of an oil pump plantation
00:23 and dishonestly inducing the company owner to hand over the money.
00:26 The offence was allegedly committed at the Lendu Industrial Estate in Alor Gajah in June
00:31 last year.
00:32 The charge, framed under section 420 of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment for up to
00:37 10 years with whipping and is liable to a fine upon conviction.
00:41 The court said bail at RM10,000 with one surety.
00:45 Gopalakrishnan was also ordered to surrender his passport to the court and to report himself
00:50 at the police station once a month.
