00:02 - It's a soap opera.
00:05 I've heard too that Sacramento is odds on favorite
00:07 for a temporary facility, but you and I were in Vegas.
00:11 It was the time when if you wanna make a political statement
00:13 that's the time to do it.
00:15 And Mrs. Mayor Goodman, remember Oscar Goodman
00:17 was the guy that brought a lot of the teams in originally.
00:20 This is his wife and she is very popular.
00:23 And she said, we don't even want them.
00:24 I don't know what we means
00:25 because a lot of the hotels do want baseball
00:28 because they want the activity, you know,
00:30 three, four days a week.
00:31 Casino operators, maybe not 'cause it's a diversion.
00:34 Bottom line is the ship has maybe sailed.
00:37 The A's had an all day meeting in Oakland last week.
00:41 So we're not sure, but at the end of the day,
00:43 it has very little to do with Salt Lake.
00:46 The Salt Lake deal may be not just for the A's temporarily
00:50 or permanently, it may be for expansion.
00:52 Nashville, Vegas, Charlotte,
00:55 there are a lot of cities that want teams,
00:56 but now Salt Lake has this only team
01:01 in the Mountain Time Zone
01:02 beside Denver being far away from something else.
01:05 They've got an arena, as you know,
01:06 with the jazz and maybe hockey expanding into it.
01:09 And then a stadium on the other side of town,
01:12 Larry Miller, the car dealer who brought the jazz in
01:15 in the first place,
01:16 is anchoring a three and a half billion dollar development.
01:19 I think Salt Lake is gonna be the next Vegas
01:24 in terms of number of expansion cities.
01:26 You watch, they are a leader.
01:29 - Yeah, but what's weird is, Rick,
01:30 I just wanna follow that with how many pro athletes
01:33 have complained how miserable and boring it is there,
01:36 and there's nothing to do and they hate it there.
01:39 - Yeah, well, listen, we're not doing this
01:41 for the pro athletes' excitement.
01:43 We're doing it for NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball values.
