00:00 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 20 My Hero Academia
00:17 fights.
00:24 Number 20, Bakugo vs Todoroki.
00:27 Pretty sure that the only people who weren't thrilled by the Sports Festival finale were
00:32 the actual finalists.
00:33 For everyone else, this frozen firework fest was pretty damn epic.
00:44 Internally conflicted following his victory over Deku, Todoroki refuses to unleash the
00:49 full force of his quirk, which as you can imagine, slightly aggravates the already ill-tempered
00:55 Bakugo.
01:04 Despite managing to pull off a win thanks to the biggest explosion ever, Bakugo can't
01:09 help but feel cheated.
01:20 Hard to see why, after all, Todoroki gave Deku everything.
01:33 Number 19, Mirio vs Class 1-A. And this is why you should always show respect to your
01:40 seniors.
01:41 You never know when one might strip naked and punch you in the gut.
01:46 Okay, maybe that is kind of rare.
01:51 As arguably the strongest student attending UA High, the always cheerful Mirio decided
01:57 to show the heroes of tomorrow the staggering difference in their power.
02:08 With but a single strike, Mirio takes out every member of the class, giving them a little
02:13 taste of how strong a person can become after a little bit of experience.
02:23 Number 18, Uraraka vs Bakugo.
02:26 Most would flinch at the idea of facing off against the guy who can re-enact Apocalypse
02:30 Now with his bare hands, but not this cinnamon roll.
02:39 Inspired by Deku's courage, and fuelled by the desire to aid her family in their time
02:44 of crisis, Uraraka takes on the full force of Bakugo's explosions, one after the other.
02:56 It's a true test of endurance, and while it looked like Uraraka might have clenched
03:00 the win when she made it rain freaking meteors, she just couldn't cross that final hurdle.
03:08 Number 17, Deku and Bakugo vs All Might.
03:24 They say you should never meet your heroes, but then again, those people didn't have
03:28 to actually fight them.
03:38 As part of their final exam, our two favourite costumed rivals find themselves facing off
03:43 against their idol in order to pass.
03:46 Things are made infinitely more complicated due to Deku and Gachan's inability to see
03:51 eye to eye.
03:56 However, desperation has a strange way of forcing cooperation, as the two somehow manage
04:03 to work together in order to get the better of All Might, scoring another win for the
04:08 books.
04:15 This battle also serves as a stepping stone for Bakugo, who was given a harsh lesson in
04:20 how not everything can be solved with explosions.
04:24 Well most of the time.
04:30 Number 16, Miriko vs The High End.
04:34 Doesn't matter if it's against one foe or several, this battle-hungry bunny will
04:38 take on any enemy to complete her duty.
04:42 After tracking down all for one's faithful servant, Dr. Garaki, Miriko quickly finds
04:47 herself in a life or death battle against the mad doctor's deadliest creations, the
04:52 High End Nomu.
05:00 With a ferocity that contradicts the nature of her quirk, this badass bunny girl single-handedly
05:06 takes on the High Ends.
05:11 Even when they slowly start to overwhelm her, Miriko refuses to just quit and powers through
05:17 the High End's lethal blows, sacrificing her own body to see her mission through.
05:22 With such an intense drive and willpower, it's no wonder Miriko became one of the
05:27 top five heroes.
05:35 Number 15, Deku vs Lady Nakant.
05:37 Deku's newfound mastery of "one for all" is put to the test when he takes on Japan's
05:43 greatest sniper.
05:45 Granted by "all for one" to capture Deku, the former pro hero Lady Nakant proves quite
05:51 the troublesome foe.
05:56 Along with her unparalleled marksmanship, Lady Nakant's arsenal also includes airwalk,
06:02 a second quirk granted to her by "all for one" that greatly boosts her mobility, allowing
06:08 her to stay one step ahead of Deku, even with his superior speed.
06:17 In the end, Lady Nakant underestimates Deku's abilities and altruistic nature as he uses
06:23 the power of "Foe 100%" to end their fight with a single high-velocity blow.
06:29 It's a shame that "all for one's" interference turned this victory into a tragedy.
06:44 Number 14, Shigaraki vs Re-Destro.
06:47 In a battle between two villains driven by extreme goals, the more dangerous villain
06:52 always comes out on top.
06:54 As the League of Villains wage war against the Meta Liberation Army, Shigaraki confronts
06:59 the rebel group's leader in a battle that pits the legacy of Destro against "all for
07:04 one's" successor.
07:06 At first, Shigaraki experiences a one-sided beating as he is powerless to stop Re-Destro
07:13 from tossing him around like a ragdoll.
07:21 But isn't it until Shigaraki conquers his traumatic past and experiences his own plus-ultra
07:27 moments that he unlocks his quirk's true potential?
07:35 Fully embracing his desire for destruction, he unleashes a devastating counterattack that
07:41 puts the fear of evil into Re-Destro and his army.
07:49 Number 13, Deku vs Gentle Criminal.
07:52 Who knew a fight over a school festival could get so intense?
07:57 After a chance encounter with the elusive Gentle Criminal, Deku ends up fighting him
08:02 after the latter reveals his goal of infiltrating UA's culture festival.
08:13 Although not as nefarious as some of the other villains he's faced, Deku refuses to let
08:18 Gentle's plan succeed as the hopes of so many people were relying on the festival's
08:24 success.
08:25 With neither side willing to back down, Deku and Gentle engage in a clash of fists and
08:34 ideals that pushes both fighters to their limits.
08:38 Considering how easily Deku could have become like Gentle, it's no wonder he considers
08:42 their battle to be his toughest up until that point.
08:56 Number 12, Eraserhead vs Villains.
08:59 Although he tends to avoid the spotlight, Eraserhead's reputation easily inspires
09:04 fear and respect in both heroes and villains alike.
09:08 When the League of Villains invade UA's training facility, he does not hesitate to
09:13 jump into battle alone to protect the future generation of heroes.
09:25 Despite being outnumbered 10 to 1, Eraserhead makes quick work of the League's thugs
09:31 thanks to his fearsome fighting skills and his ability to nullify quirks with a glance.
09:43 Although he eventually meets his match against the terrifying Nomu, Eraserhead still fights
09:48 through unimaginable pain to ensure his students' safety.
09:53 His resilience and fighting abilities are so legendary that even Shigaraki, who despises
09:59 hero society, can't help but praise him.
10:07 Number 11, Red Riot vs Fat Gum vs Rapper and Tengai.
10:12 Although he may not be the series' main protagonist, you'd best not underestimate
10:17 the power and chivalry of Kirishima, aka Red Riot.
10:22 While raiding the Yakuza group's compound, both Kirishima and his pro-hero mentor Fat
10:27 Gum eventually find themselves locked in battle with members Rapper and Tengai.
10:41 Along with Tengai's barrier quirk blocking their every attack, the heroes barely survive
10:47 Rapper's punches, which shatter even Kirishima's Unbreakable.
10:52 Despite the blow to his pride, Kirishima makes an epic comeback and hardens his resolve as
10:57 he tanks the barrage of Rapper's deadly punches.
11:07 Thanks to his efforts, he buys Fat Gum enough time to counterattack with his own ultimate
11:12 move, defeating their opponent and demonstrating the superiority of their own spear and shield
11:18 combo.
11:27 Number 10, Deku vs Class A. Sometimes the most intense battles aren't about beating
11:33 the villain, but getting the hero to stand down.
11:45 After pushing himself to his limits hunting down Shigaraki and Author One, Deku faces
11:50 an even bigger challenge when he's forced to confront his friends from Class A who refuse
11:55 to let him fight alone.
11:57 Despite Deku's best efforts to resist, his classmates' perseverance and empathy slowly
12:03 tears away at his emotional armour.
12:11 In the end, the only one who breaks through to Deku is none other than his rival Bakugo,
12:17 who stops him with something even stronger than his explosions - the honest truth.
12:22 After all Deku's done to help his friends, it's pretty amazing to see the lengths Class
12:26 A will go to to return the favour.
12:36 Number 9, All Might vs Nomu.
12:39 Our first real example of why All Might truly is the pillar of the superhuman community,
12:45 this clash against the likes of the monstrous amalgamation known as Nomu was the perfect
12:50 way to see out the first season.
12:58 And by that, we mean watch the two of them punch the ever-loving crap out of each other.
13:10 Despite running on fumes, All Might manages to push himself back from the brink and snatch
13:15 victory from Nomu's hideous jaws.
13:18 Who knew going plus ultra involved delivering a strike that could send someone flying into
13:23 the stratosphere?
13:36 Number 8, Deku vs Muscular.
13:39 Being a hero means willing to make sacrifices, even if that means nearly getting both your
13:45 arms broken into bloody chunks while a villainous pile of flesh tries to crush you.
13:57 Or maybe that's just Deku.
13:59 Determined to protect Coda from his parents' murderer, Deku pushes himself further than
14:04 ever before, willing to let his own quirk cripple him in order to save his young judge
14:09 from harm.
14:10 Now that we think about it, Muscular really didn't stand much of a chance.
14:30 The sight of Deku screaming in both pain and triumph still makes us choke up.
14:44 Number 7, Deku, Todoroki and Iida vs. Stain.
14:49 The bloody crusade of the hero-killer Stain served as a brutal reminder to our heroes
14:55 that the society they lived in was not all clear-cut.
15:07 After his brother is grievously injured during one of Stain's quests to wipe out all so-called
15:12 pretenders, Iida sets out to take his revenge, only to find himself grossly outmatched thanks
15:18 to Stain's ability to immobilise his victims by ingesting their blood.
15:28 It may have looked like curtains, but thankfully, Deku and Todoroki managed to leap in at the
15:33 last second to even out the playing field.
15:39 Stain's bloodscythe and fancy knife work may have been nothing to sneer at, but even
15:46 he couldn't withstand a class 1-A combo.
15:54 Number 6, Deku vs. Overhaul.
15:57 Watching Miryu go plus ultra and risk everything in his battle against Overhaul was without
16:02 a doubt one of the series' most inspiring moments.
16:05 However, it's also a precursor to an even greater moment, Deku's final clash with
16:11 Overhaul.
16:12 With a little help from Eri's Quirk, Rewind, Deku manages to draw out the full power of
16:17 One for All without fear of causing permanent damage to himself.
16:29 Even when Overhaul turns himself into a full-blown monster, the Yakuza is powerless in the face
16:34 of Deku's unrestrained might.
16:44 With stunning animation, Deku unleashes a heaping dose of karma against Overhaul for
16:49 all the pain he inflicted on Eri and smashes his dark ambition to pieces.
17:03 Number 5, Deku vs. Bakugo Round 2.
17:07 It was the rematch we were all waiting for, and it turned out to be more emotionally poignant
17:12 than any of us were prepared for.
17:17 After finally figuring out that Deku's power came from All Might, Bakugo challenges his
17:22 rival to a second showdown.
17:25 No holds barred, winner takes all.
17:32 Not only is the fight an exquisite sight to behold from a visual standpoint, but a perfect
17:38 showcase for the two's newfound maturity as both human beings and heroes.
17:52 We dare you to not feel an inkling of pride for Bakugo after you see him finally accept
17:57 his new reality as Deku's equal.
18:01 They grow up so fast.
18:10 Number 4, Deku vs. Todoroki Now this is what makes tournament arcs all
18:15 worthwhile.
18:22 Determined to make him embrace all aspects of his quirk, Deku went all out in order to
18:27 push Todoroki to his absolute limit.
18:36 Inspired by his opponent's unwavering desire to become a hero, the scarred bad boy finally
18:41 relents, paving the way for his twin elements to take on the full force of One for All.
18:51 The fight is utterly jaw-dropping, all held together by Deku's innate ability to inspire
18:57 people to be the best they can be, while simultaneously beating the crap out of them.
19:10 Number 3, Endeavor vs. Hood He may not have been the hero they wanted,
19:16 but at least he's determined to become the hero he needs to be.
19:20 After being attacked by the high-end Nomu Hood, Endeavor wastes no time in retaliating.
19:30 Unfortunately, Endeavor soon learns that incinerating his opponent is much easier said than done.
19:39 With enough strength to clear through a building and regenerate from the deadliest attacks,
19:45 Hood proves to be more than a match for Endeavor and his Hell Flames.
19:56 As Hood gradually overwhelms him, Endeavor begrudgingly calls upon his own plus ultra
20:01 moment to surpass his limits and perform one last all-out attack.
20:19 Burning with the intensity of a small sun, Endeavor vaporises Hood and leaves quite the
20:24 impression as the new number one hero.
20:28 Number 2, Deku and Heroes vs. Shigaraki If you thought the original All for One was
20:34 terrifying, his successor is a whole other breed of evil, especially when he destroys
20:40 entire cities with a single touch.
20:48 As the newly resurrected symbol of fear begins his rampage, the remaining heroes rally together
20:54 in a desperate attempt to bring him down.
20:57 Unfortunately, even when outnumbered and having his powers suppressed, Shigaraki's enhanced
21:03 physical strength still made him virtually unstoppable.
21:10 Regardless of raging infernos, devastating explosions and even several strikes from one
21:16 for all at full strength, none of the heroes' best efforts can deter Shigaraki from making
21:22 his twisted dream a reality.
21:24 Hard to imagine that this legendary brawl is merely the prologue to an even greater
21:29 final clash.

21:53 Take the classic concept of good vs evil, inject it with some top-tier animation, make
22:02 the whole thing a swan song for a much-beloved character, and what do you get?
22:07 Quite possibly one of the most awesome battles in modern anime.
22:19 Once again thrown into a confrontation with his nemesis, All for One, All Might is given
22:24 no choice but to use every last ember of his quirk to win the day against the League of
22:30 Villains' head honcho.
22:35 It's a breathtaking spectacle, one perfectly fitting the symbol of peace's last stand.
22:49 Remember, when you throw down with All Might, he won't just punch you, he'll drop an
22:55 entire metaphorical country on you.
