00:00 Connor Callum, a deserved 2-1 win against a strong Liverstock side pushing for the playoffs tonight. You must be delighted with that?
00:08 Yeah, we are definitely about the win. More so the performance. We always say that performance is good, results will follow.
00:15 We're really happy with the lads' application tonight. We were really disappointed with Saturday, so a few days later.
00:23 The boys' second half, especially Saturday, were not where we expected them to be. We said previously we challenged them to be better in terms of application.
00:35 It was there tonight. They got the rewards tonight. We haven't really scored any late goals this season in terms of getting winners.
00:42 We had a little bit of adversity as well, scoring and conceding straight away, especially after Saturday. It could have been a potential moment for them to put their heads down.
00:49 But to be honest, they rolled their sleeves up and carried on. I think we overall probably just about shaved it. I think we deserved the three points.
00:56 You said obviously you wanted that reaction from Saturday and that was the perfect reaction, wasn't it?
01:01 Yeah, 100%. The thing is, when you're coming up against sides like Liverstock, Brock and Hurst and Saturday against Baffins, you know that it's going to be a hard game.
01:12 They're really hard-working sides and at a bare minimum, if you don't match that, they will just basically just walk all over you and run all over you.
01:21 So at a bare minimum, you have to have that level of application to be able to even compete. So as Kyle said, the reaction from Saturday is exceptional, to be honest.
01:35 The pressing was really good tonight throughout, especially pleasing with that.
01:39 Yeah, so we have a certain way we press and it can turn on different systems and it works out really well in the first half.
01:46 We made a mistake, conceded a goal and then heads dropped, conceded early in the second half.
01:50 And then from there, the game just got away from us through our own undoing and obviously Brock and Hurst's application as well, which to be fair to them, they did deserve the win.
02:00 But yeah, no, the pressing was really good. We do spend a lot of time on that, especially trying to win the ball back as high as possible.
02:08 It can be difficult with teams that want to play as much, but yeah, the pressing was really good.
02:13 And even when they did break the press, we were getting back in as quickly as possible, really working hard, putting the hard yards in.
02:19 At any level, you don't get anything if you don't put everything in. And I can't fault that tonight, really, really, really impressed.
02:26 A really nice move for the opening goal, which Tommy then obviously finishes off at the end of it. But a nice move as well.
02:32 Yeah, I mean, I think we talk about it a lot, like key spaces that we really want to get into to all the boys.
02:40 They know exactly the movements that we want them to make and at what times, depending on who's on the ball at the time.
02:48 So, you know, I think it was at Kimberley that they slipped that Kieran Jones.
02:53 So, you know, we understand and the boys understand exactly who needs to move where when certain people get the ball in certain areas.
03:02 So it's something that we probably go back through quite a few of our goals and quite a repeatable goal for us, I think.
03:10 So, yeah, it's really pleasing.
03:12 It's a bit of a cliche about being vulnerable when you score, but obviously that's what happened tonight, two minutes later with the equaliser.
03:17 But that didn't affect you, the head didn't drop, you managed to get over that pretty well.
03:22 Yeah, we spoke a lot about before the game, and we spoke previously about adversity, you're going to face it, especially at this level.
03:29 We probably deserved to be a couple of goals ahead in the first half and we got the goal eventually.
03:33 And typically we gave a goal straight back within probably a minute, I think.
03:37 So probably their first entry into our box, first shot to be fair, they had won a little bit earlier, but straight off the goal, a lad slipped.
03:44 A bit of an unfortunate break finish from the guys, to be fair, on the spin in the bottom corner.
03:49 But yeah, I think it didn't really affect us, which was really pleasing.
03:53 I think it happened just before half-time, which helped I think as well.
03:56 Time to reflect, not dwell on it too much.
03:59 And yeah, I mean, we said second half, let's just go for it, let's try and win the game.
04:02 Be continuous on the gas as much as we can and see if we can get a result.
04:06 And we got our reward at the end.
04:08 I do genuinely believe we deserved to win the game.
04:10 It was a very close game.
04:11 Maybe we just shaved it, but I do believe that we deserved to win the game.
04:15 Always pleasing to obviously score late, isn't it?
04:17 It hasn't happened much this season to get a late winner like that.
04:20 And Charlie, good composure, tucked the penalty away there right at the end.
04:23 Yeah, 100%.
04:24 I mean, yeah, I don't know how many late goals we have scored actually.
04:27 No, not enough.
04:28 No, not near enough.
04:29 But again, is that a mentality thing that's happened in the past where sometimes the boys don't know if they can keep going all the way to the end?
04:40 You know what I mean? And you only get late goals and rewards if you're able to continually put pressure on all the time because it's obviously going to allow you to be in their box.
04:49 So as Kyle said, I think we deserved that, to be honest, and especially for how hard the boys ran the whole game, to be honest, we definitely deserved that.
05:00 And thoughts now on Baffin's on Saturday?
05:02 Obviously that promises to be another tough test, but obviously going to that full of confidence now?
05:06 Yeah, that's another team that are in and around it. Brock and Hurst, Leverstock and obviously Baffin's on Saturday.
05:12 I wouldn't say that we've been completely outclassed on Saturday.
05:16 I thought we were unlucky on a couple of occasions and we made our own errors.
05:19 But yeah, and tonight we look fine within these teams and playing against these teams.
05:26 It's not anyone we fear, but we respect Baffin's.
05:30 I think the manager did a really good job over there and they are probably in pole position for the playoffs, would you say?
05:36 They are as close.
05:38 They've got good defence.
05:39 Yeah, good, and they don't concede many goals.
05:41 So we know how they're going to play, what they're going to do, but they work really, really hard.
05:47 And we're going to have to get the lads picked up again tonight and be ready to go again on Saturday.
