00:00 I am so excited to be talking to you all, the cast of DriveAway Dolls.
00:05 Just to kind of start us off, I know this is a very wild ride of a movie,
00:10 but what would be each of your go-to road trip essentials?
00:16 Snacks.
00:17 Gotta be snacked up.
00:19 For sure.
00:21 I was thinking like, go-to road trip essentials, I was thinking water.
00:25 We're going to the basics.
00:28 Have you ever been in a car and you kind of have like a water panic attack,
00:32 you know, like you realize you don't have any water in the car and it's like all of a sudden
00:35 it's kind of like, do or die.
00:37 I know what you mean.
00:40 I actually do that exactly.
00:41 My uncle once got caught in a snowstorm and like immediately just panicked, just was like,
00:49 you know what, I'm gonna be here for days.
00:51 It was like, it was in South Carolina, it was like two inches,
00:54 like he was not gonna be there for days.
00:56 But he's just like panicking, he's starving all of a sudden,
00:58 just the mere thought of being stuck in the car and he starts eating the orange peels.
01:02 And I just...
01:03 Oh my gosh.
01:05 He's in the car for like an hour and he's like, oh my god, I'm gonna die this way.
01:12 That's really funny.
01:16 I totally get that.
01:17 I feel like the anxiety, it's like when you have to pee and you're in the car, like it's over.
01:22 It's like when you get on the airplane too, like for me, I'm like,
01:24 I'm like food hoarding as I walk in sometimes, you know what I mean?
01:27 It's like, what can I, how much can I...
01:29 Survival.
01:30 Get it.
01:32 And Margaret, I wanted to go over to you, as I said, this movie is a wild ride,
01:37 but in your own words, what really drew you to this project
01:40 and why should people get their booties to the movies to go see it?
01:43 Booties to the movies?
01:44 Booties to the movies, we love.
01:46 Was that me?
01:47 Yeah.
01:48 I mean, Ethan Coen and Tricia Cook, the best.
01:54 Um, enough said.
01:55 And also Geraldine and Beanie.
01:58 Um, it was just an, one of the best times ever to make.
02:03 And I hope that you feel that in the movie.
02:04 I hope that people enjoy watching this as like half as much as I did making it an eighth as much.
02:11 Absolutely.
02:13 And Beanie, I wanted to go over to you.
02:14 I mean, this movie has such humor, heart, but it also really just celebrates queer women
02:20 and their love and their sexualities.
02:22 So what do you hope women who see this movie will take away from seeing it?
02:26 Yeah. I mean, I think that, you know, we just need more queer representation.
02:30 I mean, we need more representation in general, but certainly with female queer characters.
02:35 And I feel like often when we do get those stories, they are understandably about very,
02:40 like dramatic, emotional, kind of the more intense side of,
02:46 of being queer or being a human being rather.
02:50 Um, but the amazing thing about "Drive Away Dolls" is that we are,
02:53 the movie is centering three queer women, but, uh, the film, and it's also super sexy
03:00 and super raunchy and sexual, but it is not, um, kind of intense in the way that it handles
03:07 its queerness. And it's really a celebration of those spaces and that community, um, specifically
03:12 like, uh, lesbian bars in the nineties and, um, showcasing them.
03:16 And I think that there's just kind of nothing better. And I think, you know, we can all just
03:21 have, it's great to show people that we can have a real ball of laughs and amazing time
03:26 at the movie watching three queer women go on a wild ride. I think that's a great thing.
03:31 Absolutely. I, I loved it. I really enjoyed it. And just to close it off, I have met Colman Domingo
03:38 and he is the sweetest person ever. So was it hard to be intimidated by that man?
03:44 I don't know. He's pretty convincing. He's really good at acting.
03:47 Well, thank you all so much. It was so sweet talking to you and congratulations on the film.
03:54 Thank you.
