00:00 The Quad meet went on Monday, Power Pink meet this Friday against Georgia.
00:05 Just give us the thoughts on that Quad meet and coming into this meet on Friday.
00:09 >> Well, I think at the Quad meet we just wanted to let loose and
00:14 do what we know how to do.
00:16 It was kind of our time to just show what we're capable of and
00:19 I think we did that and we had a lot of fun doing it.
00:22 But it just gave us a lot of confidence going into this Friday against Georgia,
00:25 who's also a great team, so.
00:26 >> Yeah, just gotta carry our momentum, carry our speed, and finish season strong.
00:30 >> Gabby, you scored your season high on bars, well, a career high on bars.
00:35 Just talk about that, what worked for you on Monday.
00:38 >> Yeah, I think between me and Gina, we were really talking about trusting
00:40 the process and trusting my training since bars is probably my weakest event.
00:44 But I kinda, like Kari said, just went in, let loose, went big, and
00:48 it came out pretty good.
00:49 >> Just for both of y'all as a whole, how encouraging was it to see the bars line up
00:53 from top to bottom, kinda get back on track to where you were at the beginning
00:56 of the season?
00:56 >> Yeah, I think we worked really hard, especially this week.
00:58 This was kind of our troubleshooting week to figure out what works for us and
01:02 our cues.
01:03 So that's what we brought into the meet and yeah, we were just confident in each
01:07 other and it was really exciting to see everybody hit after hit, so yeah.
01:11 >> You guys are 10th overall, congrats on that.
01:13 Just talk about how the team has worked this year and
01:17 just the camaraderie between all of you guys.
01:21 >> Yeah, I mean, I think being number 10 in the top 10 is a super cool thing, but
01:27 I think we have more to give.
01:29 But we also just try not to focus on the rankings and
01:31 we just do us and take it one day at a time.
01:34 And yeah, I think we're just closer than ever, so we just carry that with us and
01:38 that's really what's most important to all of us.
01:41 >> And this week is super special to Coach Johnson,
01:44 especially since Sarah Patterson was the one who started this meet.
01:46 Just talk about her this week and
01:48 how excited she's been for this upcoming meet against Georgia.
01:52 >> She's really excited, I mean, this is our chance to use our platform and
01:56 advocate for survivors and people that are continuing to fight for breast cancer.
01:59 I know for me, it kind of hits close to home for me and my family,
02:01 because my mom is a breast cancer survivor.
02:04 So just being able to go out and compete for them, it's a privilege.
02:06 >> Just for both of you, you just kind of hit on it a little bit, but
02:09 how special is this power of pink meat?
02:11 And maybe how's it different or
02:12 how does it feel different since you both competed it before when you're out on
02:14 the floor?
02:15 And maybe kind of the energy from the crowd or
02:17 just how special the night is and what it means.
02:19 >> Yeah, I think we actually just visited the cancer center here in Tuscaloosa.
02:23 So just getting to meet everybody individually and seeing them personally,
02:26 and then getting to see them on Friday and walk them out.
02:29 It just makes it that much more special every single year.
02:32 My grandma's also a breast cancer survivor.
02:34 So yeah, it's always hit close to home for me.
02:37 But yeah, I think just meeting everybody personally and
02:40 getting to take them out on the floor just always hits home.
02:43 >> Couple more.
02:43 What did you guys do at the cancer center?
02:46 Did you guys just meet, kind of talk about that experience?
02:49 >> Yeah, so we went to the cancer center on Valentine's Day actually, and
02:51 we handed out Valentine's Day cards to all the cancer patients and
02:53 kind of just talked to them.
02:54 And a lot of them were big fans of family gymnastics, so that was pretty cool.
02:58 >> Yeah, there was a lot of season ticket holders in there.
03:00 >> [LAUGH] >> But yeah,
03:01 we just sat with them while they did their treatment and gave them Valentine's.
03:03 And just, yeah, kind of just let them tell us their stories.
03:06 And yeah, it was super fun, especially on Valentine's Day.
03:09 >> And then, Makari, you had your season debut on floor,
03:13 even though it was an exhibition.
03:14 Can you just talk about that and how exciting that was?
03:18 >> Yeah, it was really exciting.
03:20 I remember I ended the routine and I just looked straight towards my team and
03:23 just jumped into their arms.
03:24 But yeah, I've been working really hard and they've had my back since day one.
03:28 So just getting to be out there and showcase that was just super special.
03:32 And yeah, as a fifth year, just excited to be able to do that still.
03:36 [LAUGH] >> Couldn't tell.
03:40 >> No, all right, thanks, y'all.
