Curley Williams (Curly Williams) & His Georgia Peach Pickers

"Texas Swing"

Curley Williams was born on June 3, 1914.

He died on September 5, 1970.

Curley's group was first known as the Santa Fe Trail Riders.

Later on, they had to changed their name. Curley at the time was using his real name, Dock.

But Doc Williams (Andrew Smik) and His Border Riders was using that name, so a change was desired--such as show business at that time.

George D. Hay, the Solemn Old Judge, named him Curley for his curly hair, and the band was given the name Georgia Peach Pickers since most of them were from Georgia.

Their music was light, jazzy, sophisticated western dance music--you may call it a hillbilly swing band.
