00:00 Goodbye dog. And Noddy got into his car. He pulled the starter and then he looked at the dog. "All right", he said with a sigh. "You'd better get in". "Ruff!" "You're a very insistent dog, aren't you?" "Ruff!" the dog said. They were just starting when they saw Mr. Plod. Noddy couldn't resist it. He drove round and round Mr. Plod.
00:29 And as he drove, he made up a poem.
00:32 I like your helmet, Mr. Plod. I like your funny nose. And if I peeped inside your boots, perhaps I'd like your toes. I like your big and boomy voice. I like your buttons bright. But Mr. Plod, I would not like to dream of you at night.
00:56 Mr. Plod wasn't a bit pleased. "Mow along, mow along", he shouted. But Noddy kept driving round and round.
01:03 I'm not a roundabout, I'll have you know. If you don't stop treating me as one, I'll have you for a traffic offence. I'll, um, what is it? I'll imprison you if you don't stop.
01:13 So Noddy stopped. "Time to go home, you bumpy dog", he said. "You've had your ride. Goodbye, Miss Plod. Happy dreams."
01:29 It's considered advisable on this beat. But Mr. Plod never said what was considered advisable. Mr. Plod was flat on his back. "Er, what are you doing on the floor?" Noddy asked.
01:42 Mr. Plod got up. "Where's my helmet?" he sobbed. "Give it here at once. That helmet belongs to Toy Town Constabulary. At once."
01:52 But Bumpy Dog took no notice and ran outside into Tessie Bear's garden. "Have you lent this dog your helmet, Mr. Plod?" "Certainly not."
02:07 "I think he wants to bury it. He thinks it's a bone," Tessie said. "You are a nuisance of a dog. Do go away," said Noddy.
02:18 There were six sacks to be collected. Noddy piled them into his car. The three Skittle children watched him, but didn't offer any help. "Lazy things," Noddy thought.
02:32 Then they heard it. The slight tinkling of a bell. "That," said Noddy, "that is the bell on my hat."
02:48 "I deduct from that noise," said Mr. Plod, "that the culprits are wearing the hat they stole from Noddy." "That's what I said." "Hmm," said Mr. Plod. "Forward."
03:05 But it was Big Ears who led the way. "And what's all this?" PC Plod appeared from nowhere.
03:16 "It's Noddy, Mr. Plod. He started it. He started it. Look at what he's done to my mum's washing, eh? Look. You little liar!"
03:23 Noddy swung round furiously. He'd forgotten the hose was in his hand. Mr. Plod went down with a bump. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to water you."
03:34 "On this occasion, I'm inclined to believe you, Noddy. As for you, Tubby Bear, I shall report this matter to your father and he will punish you."
03:47 "If he does," Tubby yelled, "I'll run away. Then you'll be sorry." "Not me, mate," Mr. Plod muttered to Tubby's departing back. "Not me."
03:59 Noddy marched up to the roundabout man. "I'd like to give Mr. Plod a special treat," he told him. "Please give him the longest ride anyone has ever had."
04:15 "It's all right by me," the roundabout man said. "But I want me a sandwich and coffee, see." "That's all right. I'll look after it for you."
04:28 Mr. Plod was enjoying himself. He liked the big elephant he was sitting on, and the music, and the people whirling by. Though the roundabout did seem to be going rather fast, Mr. Plod clung to his elephant.
04:48 It was going faster and faster, faster and faster. "Oy, oy, oy, I say, oy, slow down," Mr. Plod called. But the roundabout went faster than ever.
05:04 "Oy, didn't you hear what I said? I said, slow down." Mr. Plod didn't notice that he'd dropped something. But Noddy panned. "What do you think you're up to?"
05:18 The roundabout man had reappeared, looking very cross. He soon stopped it going round. Mr. Plod tumbled off. "Oy, oy, oy, I feel like a roundabout myself, oh dear."
05:37 Then he saw Noddy and the steering wheel. "I'll put you in prison, oh." He gasped giddily. Then he felt two warm, furry arms round his neck, and a voice whispering in his ear.
05:56 And slowly Mr. Plod's stern features broke into a smile. "Oh, all right, Tessie. Just this once I am prepared to waive the law and make a compromise."
06:13 "Bumpy," Tessie called. And there was Bumpy with Mr. Plod's helmet. "Yeah, well, that's better," he said as he settled it on his head. "That's better," Noddy said as he fixed the steering wheel.
06:35 And he and Tessie drove back to Toy Town. And as they drove, they sang.
