00:00 You alright?
00:01 Yeah, thanks.
00:02 Good.
00:03 Not one other person who's interested in what I'm saying.
00:06 I'll just be talking to you two.
00:07 Amp is starts off whenever you're ready, mate.
00:09 Hi Russell.
00:12 You've worked a lot on the game, it was a really, really good performance,
00:15 what are your thoughts?
00:16 Yeah, I don't think Preneal is a fair reflection of the game, really.
00:20 I think we should be 1-2 and up before they get close to a goal.
00:24 I think it's a really brilliant performance,
00:26 I think we had some incredible moments.
00:28 And the difference in the game is the quality of finishing.
00:31 And their goalkeeper made some really brilliant saves.
00:35 So I'm really proud of the players.
00:36 If we are ever going to lose, then let's do it in our way and be in the team we want to be.
00:41 And I can't ask for any more than that tonight.
00:43 The lads were so brave, so much energy, so much intensity,
00:46 so much love for each other with the ball, so much care for each other with the ball.
00:49 You can't play for an aggressive press out without that.
00:52 So I'm really happy with them.
00:55 I'm really grateful to them, I really loved watching our team tonight.
00:58 But I'm annoyed at the result and I'm hurt for them at the result,
01:01 because I don't think they deserve that.
01:04 So, yeah, my overriding feeling is that really, a lot of pride and a lot of gratitude for them,
01:09 a lot of enjoyment but also frustration that the result ended up how it did.
01:14 I'm really concerned about the sort of car waste you were going to have to take on that man in the second goal.
01:18 Are you able to tell us anything about that?
01:19 He's felt something, so we'll have to assess it and then we'll see where we are from there.
01:23 It was a big one, no-one knew he was going to come off.
01:26 So it's frustrating, hopefully it's nothing too serious,
01:29 but we'll obviously know a bit more in the next day or two.
01:31 What about using this performance to springboard?
01:33 Because you said to us yesterday that you just wanted to come here and be the team you wanted to be,
01:37 and you knew this was going to be a difficult game.
01:39 How do you use this to push on for Saturday?
01:42 If you can do that here, you can do it anywhere.
01:44 Honestly, I said to you I've been unhappy with probably one and a half games of football for nearly six months.
01:50 If we play like that, with that courage and intensity and love for each other,
01:57 then it's going to be a really exciting end to the season.
02:00 I hope they felt tonight that the biggest motivation they all have to have
02:07 is to try and get to the Premier League and come to places like this every single week
02:11 and actually play football and showcase what they can do.
02:15 They have an opportunity to play in the Premier League and do it in a completely different way to what they've done before,
02:21 because we won't change.
02:22 Hopefully they enjoyed enough tonight and the moments they had tonight to come to Anfield and be that team
02:28 and play the way they did with the ball at times was amazing.
02:32 They stole the ball as well a lot in the first half in particular with the press,
02:36 so hopefully that's whetted their appetite a little bit to have some more of that and feel that a bit more.
02:41 So, yes, I think that has to be the motivation really.
02:45 You just spoke to one man who said exactly that,
02:47 he said it didn't give him any motivation to get promoted,
02:49 but coming here and playing like that, playing against a team like that, it does give you that.
02:52 Yes, it has to.
02:54 So much of what we do is about feeling and feeling certain moments on the pitch, what the game needs,
03:03 feeling and understanding what your team-mate needs with the ball,
03:06 to feel hungry to hunt and react to losing the ball and to be aggressive without the ball.
03:11 So, yes, they need to keep feeling and tonight they would have felt so many good moments.
03:17 Hopefully that will help us keep moving forward, because if you perform like that
03:22 and perform with that amount of energy and courage, then we'll be more than fine.
03:29 You just lost that in Stratton in the last 15 or 20 minutes, what did you put that down to?
03:36 Energy probably, a bit of fatigue, subs and then Kyle having to come off and all that stuff.
03:42 And also, I feel the guys getting frustrated because they felt maybe there's big chances,
03:48 to come here and have four or five big chances is not a normal thing I don't think,
03:52 regardless of what team they're playing.
03:54 So maybe they felt a bit frustrated at that point, the guys, and a bit of fatigue.
03:59 So, yes, I'm annoyed the game got away from us a little bit.
04:02 The second goal killed it really.
04:05 And it's a rubbish goal from our point of view because we were really clean with the ball most of the time.
04:09 So, yes, that's it.
04:11 Can I just ask you about Kamel Deacon, because obviously Ryan Fraser's out now for a little while
04:15 and I think Kamel Deacon's coming and there were some really good right spots for him.
04:18 Is he now ready to maybe step in to that Ryan Fraser position?
04:21 I thought he was great, yes, I thought he was really good but he should score.
04:23 So I think that's the next step for Kamel Deacon, is that real final end product really.
04:29 It's the only thing that, even when he had a run of games before he got injured,
04:33 I think one assist, so many good moments.
04:36 But he knows how I feel about that, he needs to come to a little bit more, but he's so talented.
04:41 I thought he was great tonight, really, really disciplined in his position.
04:45 Did a good job out of possession for the team, had some amazing moments with the ball,
04:49 which we know he's capable of.
04:51 Now to get to a level he can really get to, it's about staying fit and ready
04:56 and that last action to be really a killer in front of goal, to score an assist.
05:02 Same with Sam Mendoza, Sam Mendoza had some brilliant moments tonight
05:06 but should come off with a goal or an assist.
05:08 They're young guys, they're learning all the time, they're getting better and better
05:13 and they'll be big players for us, so yeah, Kamel Deacon's to be claimed
05:16 and so is Sam Mendoza, he was so much better tonight than he was on Saturday
05:19 and that was really pleasing.
05:21 Is Kamel Deacon frustrated that he's not been able to have that killer assist in the final third?
05:25 I think he's frustrated that he had a couple of injuries,
05:28 then he's got into flow and then had to come out with injury again.
05:31 But I think he backs himself, I think he's in there, we see it in training all the time.
05:35 Now he just needs to transfer that into a match.
05:38 I feel like once he starts, once he gets one and relaxes a little bit, he'll end up getting a lot.
05:48 What did you say to the players over the dressing room,
05:51 just to ensure as much as possible that they do take the positives from tonight
05:54 rather than dwelling on the negatives?
05:56 Yeah, I said they should be hurt and upset that we lost 3-0,
05:59 but they should be really incredibly proud of how they've played tonight
06:03 and the account they've given of themselves and of the club and the team.
06:06 So the same as what I've said to you really, I try and be as honest as I possibly can,
06:12 always with the players and with you guys, and that's how I feel.
06:15 So that's what I told them, but they were already talking about that,
06:18 they were talking about that when they came in, as I came in.
06:20 So they know, they would have felt plenty of times tonight that they were doing some brilliant things,
06:24 really, really amazing things, and they just need to live there all the time.
06:29 - Thank you. - Good? Cheers.
06:31 [Thanks for watching!]
