00:00 [Silence]
00:28 I know we've got the wireless mic, so...
00:30 [Inaudible]
00:41 Coming in here, playing in this arena, in this stadium,
00:47 I think, you know, you have to walk in here with a toughness, with a fight, with a resilience to know who you're playing against,
00:55 to know how hard it is to come in here and get wins.
00:59 Very rarely happens. Top ten team.
01:03 So, when you walk into this building and you're ready to play a team like this,
01:09 there's a fight that's required.
01:12 And that fight means for 40 minutes.
01:16 You don't have to be perfect, but you better be disciplined, you better be tough,
01:22 you better be resilient in how you handle things, and you better be precise in how you're going to play offense.
01:29 So, with that said, you know, we came in here and we talked about the big key to the game, rebound.
01:36 They beat us 24 to 43.
01:40 You can't beat this team if you're not going to rebound.
01:43 We came in this game based off our first game, how we moved the ball,
01:47 and we caused them problems by moving the ball and attacking the lane.
01:52 It took us a half to sort of figure that out.
01:55 We talked about defensively being solid, creating and making them miss shots because they got good shooters and they score in bunches.
02:05 They got a bunch of guys that can really score the ball and they're a very good passing team.
02:10 Well, they had 23 assists to our 11 assists.
02:15 A good offensive team, that's what they do.
02:17 Everybody passes the ball and you create havoc, and that's what they did to us today.
02:23 Questions?
02:31 [Inaudible]
02:33 --talk on the court.
02:34 I'm just wondering, you know, when you play in a place like this, just how tough was it that tonight?
02:42 And, you know, did you think that that caused a lot of problems, just trying to get on the same page offensively and defensively?
02:48 No, I thought that it wasn't the communication.
02:51 I thought it was the fight.
02:53 I thought it was the toughness to hit first and hit hard, to send a message to them that you're not going to just dominate us on the boards
03:02 and we're going to start out, we're going to be the aggressor.
03:05 And then go up there and after you hit them hard, you go snatch the ball with two hands above the rim.
03:11 Well, they hit us first and they had 13 offensive rebounds.
03:16 That's not what we talked about.
03:18 That was not the game plan.
03:20 We talked about getting after them defensively and being solid and how we handle ball screens, actions,
03:27 and making sure that we play to get deflections.
03:29 They're a very good passing team.
03:31 Well, we didn't do that.
03:33 We talked about also moving the ball.
03:37 By moving the ball, we are a driving team.
03:39 We're not a jump shot shooting team.
03:41 Well, the first half, somebody told them they were the jump shot shooting team, and so they shot jump shots.
03:46 And we were 1-4-11 in the first half on threes.
03:59 I'm trying to get a sense of this.
04:01 Is the team force forcing turnovers?
04:04 What about when you're away tonight being brave to do something like that?
04:07 It might be close to your season.
04:09 I agree on the forcing turnovers and still just let them get it.
04:11 Maybe make something of us.
04:13 Well, I thought at first we did some good things, but not nearly enough to where we caused them problems.
04:22 I thought the first half we played poorly, and it was a 13-point game.
04:28 I thought the second half we played better offensively, moving the ball, attacking lanes, but then we gave up second shots.
04:36 So whatever we did good, we compounded it by doing something bad.
04:43 You can't beat a team like this.
04:45 This is a team that could easily win a national title.
04:48 This is a top-10 team that's really, guys, they may be better than that.
04:53 They may be better than a top-10 team.
04:55 They got every attribute that it takes to win, and they win on a big scale.
05:00 We don't have that wiggle room, and we have to know that.
05:04 The only way we can contend with them and fight with them is to fight.
05:08 That's it.
05:10 What was the biggest thing that frustrated you after having so much time to just work internally?
05:23 It was one of the things that frustrated me.
05:26 The other one was I thought offensively we came out and thought we were just going to shoot jump shots and play casual.
05:35 That's not how we play.
05:37 That's not what we talk about.
05:38 That's not what we--when we're playing good basketball, we're playing good basketball by attacking you,
05:43 by getting stops, running out in transition, or in the half court, throwing it into the post.
05:48 They double-tee or spreading the floor with great spacing, and we attack the lane multiple times.
05:56 Has any of his production--he's been doing this all season, too.
06:13 Has any of his production this year--what's jumped out most to you in terms of his offensive impact?
06:19 Well, I thought when Trey got hurt and he missed some time, I thought he got a chance to see for himself without us saying it.
06:30 He got to see it.
06:32 And since he came back, he's played different.
06:35 He's played trying to get north-south.
06:37 He's played trying to get to spots.
06:39 He's not over-drumming.
06:40 He's not second-guessing.
06:42 And he's built on that, and he has gotten better.
06:45 He's had games where he's had--and I'll be honest, I'll just tell you what I told him in the locker room.
06:51 You are a very good basketball player.
06:54 You have to will us to win.
06:56 The scouting report is you're going to fill up a stat sheet.
07:00 So I need you--instead of three rebounds, I need you to get 13, 14 rebounds.
07:04 You are capable.
07:06 If Brandon won't do it, if KG won't do it, if Manny won't do it,
07:09 you're capable of getting us 12, 13, 14 rebounds.
07:12 Go do it.
07:14 That's what your ability is.
07:16 You have to will us to win.
07:19 Thank you.
07:20 Thanks for your coaching.
07:22 Thank you all.
07:23 Thank you for coaching.
