Kevin O'Connell on His Relationship With Kirk Cousins

00:00 >> How is your relationship with Kirk Cousins grown over the last few seasons?

00:04 >> Yeah, I think it's unique just because we go back so much further than that.

00:08 Having coached him in 2017 and just that initial foundation of building

00:14 the relationship not only with Kirk, but Julie, his wife, and we love his family.

00:20 My family and his family are close.

00:23 So then we come here two years ago and Kirk was a huge reason why I thought so

00:28 highly amongst a lot of things about the Minnesota Vikings opportunity.

00:33 Because of my belief in him, we've won a lot of games over these two years with

00:38 Kirk as our quarterback and I thought he was playing as well as anybody in

00:41 the National Football League when he got hurt after beating the Packers at Lambeau.

00:46 Last year, coming off a Monday night win over the team that represented the NFC in

00:51 the Super Bowl and to have that happen was a big deal for me personally and

00:56 much beyond just my role of coaching the team.

00:59 But it's been awesome to see him through his rehab and where he's at now,

01:03 really get right back up on his feet and attack this thing.

01:05 But my feelings on Kirk Cousins, they really have not wavered in two years and

01:11 if anything, they're stronger now having gone through a lot of adversity together.

01:17 But we've had a lot of success as well.
