What could be done to improve Leeds city centre?

00:00 What can be done to improve Leeds city centre?
00:03 Well, one of the problems is that there are too many cycles and motorised bikes on the pavements,
00:13 which is very dangerous. If you get hit by one of them, you can be severely injured, get your ribs broken or your legs broken,
00:20 especially if you're a pensioner, which I am, nearly 71 years old.
00:25 I mean, why should you have to jump out of the way of a bike that's in an illegal place?
00:30 So I think if Leeds City Council could do something about that, it may come down to the fact that it needs police to look into it.
00:37 You know, more police patrolling what's going on in the centre of Leeds, if that's possible to do it.
00:43 I don't know how much under pressure police in Leeds are.
00:48 What do you think can be done to improve Leeds city centre?
00:51 So I believe that the road works outside of the station and things like that have been going on for a few years.
01:01 And maybe, you know, it takes a lot of work to do some work like that.
01:09 But yeah, it's been going on for five years and it's supposed to get worse.
01:14 It just seems a bit of a hindrance as a pedestrian to, you know, everything's cornered off.
01:19 So, yeah, OK.
01:21 What can be done to improve Leeds city centre?
01:24 Well, I don't know about the centre. It would be lovely to have a few shops that had closed down, reopened.
01:30 But I do admit most of the stuff is online anyway now.
01:34 And I would certainly like the bus service, particularly the Weatherby number seven bus service, which is only an hour now instead of half an hour, half an hourly.
01:44 I would like that at least hourly and a lot of the time it just misses and we have an hour to wait.
01:52 And I think that would be, apart from that, I think Leeds is OK.
