00:00 So Newcastle and Islay are back to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers
00:05 here at St James' Park. It was Newcastle's first win at St James' Park since the 16th
00:10 of December when they beat Fulham by the same scoreline and it was a game where Newcastle
00:13 went ahead in the first half 2-0. A couple of fortuitous goals he got on this, it was
00:18 the first one, it was a brilliant counter-attack, Cher released Gordon who released Bruno, Bruno's
00:23 shot was blocked but Isak was there to head home a rebound. It was pretty similar to Bruno's
00:27 goal against Leicester a couple of years ago where the shot gets blocked and then all of
00:31 a sudden he's there with the head on. It was a great goal by Isak to be fair, that's what
00:34 you want your striker to do, you want to be in them positions to score. Second goal was
00:38 Anthony Gordon, it was pretty similar, they built a bit of luck for Newcastle's side,
00:43 Murphy's cross from deep was spilled by Sarr and Gordon's there to hit home the rebound.
00:48 To be fair that's what you want your strikers and your wingers to do, you want them to be
00:50 in the box to finish any chances and as much as there might be an element of luck about
00:53 it I'm sure Gary O'Neill will have something to say about them goals. At the end of the
00:57 day Newcastle were very clinical in that first half, it was an even first period I think,
01:02 I think both teams could have scored and both teams will have gone in at half time for getting
01:07 the scoreline probably content with their performance. Unfortunately for Wolves, Newcastle
01:11 have got them two goals, unfortunately for the Wolves it was a half where you think actually
01:16 they look quite solid defensively for the first time pretty much this year at all, they
01:21 look very good defensively and Wolves created very little and then at half time you think
01:26 right 2-0 can they continue that defensive resilience and they were able to do that but
01:31 that was mainly down to the fact that Pedro Neto was substituted at half time, he picked
01:35 up a knock in the first half and he was taken off at half time, Jose Sarr the goalkeeper
01:39 was taken off as well so that was two big misses for Wolves and Wolves never really
01:42 got going in the second half, they couldn't get any real rhythm and Newcastle to be fair
01:45 just closed out the game. They saw them do that last year brilliantly and that's something
01:48 they've been missing this year, the ability just to close down a game and yeah they did
01:53 that superbly, they got the third, Tino Livermendo right at the end with his first goal, it was
01:57 a brilliant ball by Schär again who set up that goal, Livermendo just ran and ran with
02:00 the ball, all of a sudden he finds himself in the area and he poked his home and yeah
02:04 it was 3-0, I think 3-0 probably flattered Newcastle a bit, De Bravka made a couple of
02:09 very good saves to keep Wolves out during the second half, they never really looked
02:12 like constantly too much, they weren't open up like they have been in previous games,
02:16 we've seen that against Forest, against Bournemouth, against Luton but they weren't really opened
02:22 up and they were very good defensively and it would be a very pleasing 4-2 anyhow, won
02:26 them they'll be glad to get that win and just settle a bit in nerves and yeah get that monkey
02:31 off the back of their home record because you all know how good it was at the beginning
02:33 of the season, how good it's been under anyhow and the last few months it's been really disappointing
02:38 but yeah it was good to see the opposition win and that'll give them a lot of confidence
02:41 going into next week's game against Chelsea which will be a very tough game, we don't
02:44 know that but yeah, Newcastle United 3-0 against Wolves, probably their, certainly their best
02:51 team performance probably since early summer, I think that's unfair, taking the cup games
02:57 aside obviously, I don't think that's an unfair statement to say that was their best performance
03:01 in the Premier League certainly since the beginning of the second half and yeah well
03:04 a performance in result that will please anyhow ahead of next week's game against Chelsea.
03:08 - Oh my God!
