Joe Buck reacts to Newcastle United's 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup at St James' Park. A strike from Alexander Isak and an own goal won the tie for Eddie Howe's side who now face Brentford at home in the next round and are potentially just 270 minutes from a return to Wembley.

00:00So Nugat's United are through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after a 2-0 win over Chelsea
00:06here at St James' Park.
00:07Anyhow, just on my shoulder there.
00:09Two goals inside three minutes in the first half was enough for the win.
00:14First Alexander Izak scoring before a slightly comical own goal and that was all she wrote
00:19in terms of scoring.
00:20Nugat's United have done a much improved performance from what they put in on Sunday against the
00:24same opponents and it was a result that they really needed after that and after two defeats
00:28in a row in the Premier League to come and beat a high-quality opposition at home in
00:33the Carabao Cup and set up a quarter-final tie with Brentford, which the draw's just
00:37been done.
00:38So that's a brilliant tie for Nugat's on the next round and a chance at a semi-final again.
00:42But yeah, Nugat's has mentioned 2-0 winners against Chelsea, two goals in the first half.
00:48Alexander Izak did well for the first one.
00:49It was brilliant work from Julian and he was fantastic all game.
00:52We'll talk about him in a minute but he won the ball back from Renato Vega.
00:57Xander Otonali was quick on it.
00:58He's fed through Izak.
00:59Izak did what he did all last season and what he's been missing this year really, just slid
01:03comfortably past Philip Jorgensen and Chelsea goal and Nugat's went 1-0 ahead.
01:07And you think, can they do what they've done so many times in Erie Howe and what they're
01:11really good at on the Erie Howe and can they capitalise on that momentum?
01:14And they did.
01:15Two minutes later, they got a free kick.
01:17There was some talk before the game about their free kick or record, sorry, from set-pieces.
01:21They improved that this time with Lewis Hall spotting Izak sort of drifting off.
01:26Izak got a little bit of space on the left, he put a cross in, you know, a dangerous cross.
01:32Joe Willock got a flick on it and there was Axel Desassi to poke home, pass his own goalkeeper,
01:37putting Nugat's up 2-0 up and that was all she wrote in terms of the score.
01:41Nugat's did very well in the second half just to nullify the game, Eddie Howe switched to
01:44back five.
01:45And yeah, that was it.
01:46Nugat's did very well to stop Chelsea really having any attack.
01:51Paul Palmer was on the bench, he didn't get brought on by Enzo Maresca.
01:55And other than that, Chelsea had a couple of chances, Nick Pope made a couple of saves
01:58but Nugat's did really well against Chelsea and we'll be really happy over there.
02:02The Knights work, as I mentioned, got a special shout-out for Jolent and Eddie Howe even actually
02:06gave a special shout-out to Jolent in his press conference earlier before he was asked
02:10about and just saying how he is a fantastic player, fantastic game from him, his versatility.
02:18He played on the left wing today, obviously he plays the central midfielder quite often
02:22but he played out on the left today and he was brilliant.
02:24Him and Joe Willock struck up a partnership that worked so well for him a couple of seasons
02:27ago.
02:28And yeah, he gradually got deeper as the game went on but was even the force of play, almost
02:33as a wing-back in that second half when they switched to five at the back to see the game
02:37out.
02:38So yeah, it was a brilliant performance from Jolent and Bruno, he started on the bench
02:43but he came on for the last half and he was supreme, he was just fantastic.
02:47He won fouls, did exactly what he needed to do, a real caps performance off the bench.
02:51Lewis Miley got a very late introduction to the game on his first minutes of this match
02:56so yeah, brilliant night all round for Newcastle and as I said, about 45 minutes an hour after
03:01the game finished, the Cup draw was made and they've got a game against Brentford now.
03:05We've seen Brentford in the Carabao Cup a couple of seasons ago knock Newcastle out
03:08so it's not an easy game by any means, you know, Thomas Frank's side will be hard to
03:12beat and they'll fancy their chances come there but it's a good draw, it's a home draw,
03:16that was the one they wanted.
03:17I think they would have fancied anyone at home but especially, they've avoided Arsenal,
03:20they've avoided Liverpool, Manchester City were knocked out today so they've avoided
03:24the bigger teams and they've got Brentford.
03:26It's going to be a difficult game but they'll fancy their chances, especially at home.
03:30And yeah, after two defeats in a row in the Premier League, things coming into today were
03:35a bit worried, where would they go, will they start on the downhill side, you know, if they
03:39lost today with Arsenal and Nottingham Forest coming up for the international break it could
03:43have really been a dangerous few weeks but they've got over this hurdle and they'll be,
03:47this place will be bouncing again on Saturday with hopes of potentially defeating Arsenal
03:51here again.
03:52Yeah, so Newcastle 93 win the Carabao Cup, probably their best performance of the season,
03:57certainly first half was definitely up there as their best without a shadow of a doubt.
04:01And Newcastle 92 Chelsea 0 through the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
