00:00 Hello, thanks for watching. It's a lovely spring day in London here. Now the world
00:06 famous illustrator, best known for illustrating his own books and those of
00:11 Roald Dahl, has partnered with the Royal Parks Charity to create illustrations in
00:16 iconic London parks such as this one here in Hyde Park. The Royal Parks has
00:22 commissioned 27 designs from Quentin Blake to appear across the parks. So far
00:28 the signs can be seen in Hyde Park and also in Kensington Gardens. There are
00:34 also plans to include the signs in Richmond Park and Greenwich Park later
00:39 this year as well. This project is part of a wider plan to improve, upgrade and
00:45 standardise signage and interpretation across all of London's Royal Parks by
00:51 2026. Lucy Kellett, Head of Visitor Experience at the Royal Parks Charity
00:56 has said that urban green spaces all face the same challenges such as
01:01 littering, dog fouling and wildlife feeding. Signage on these topics can
01:06 often fade into the background. However this is a new experiment with a fresh
01:11 approach to some of our signs so that visitors will feel welcome in the parks
01:16 while respecting the rules. Quentin Blake's signs are quite literally pieces
01:21 of art and we hope that when people stop to appreciate them they will also
01:25 understand the serious messages that lie behind the playful images. Quentin Blake
01:33 himself who lives in West London drew inspiration for the drawings from what
01:37 he imagined might take place in the parks. He said that he is delighted that
01:42 his drawings will find themselves in the Royal Parks and the inclusions of his
01:47 illustrations on signs means that visitors can enjoy them and that their
01:51 everyday park rules and admonitions are offered in a cheerful and friendly
01:55 spirit. For more on this head to LondonWorld.com
