00:00 Sunday's Oscars will see many of this year's performance nominees walk the red carpet for
00:04 the first time. We're breaking down this year's first-time nominees, as well as the history that
00:08 could be made at the 2024 Oscars. In the Best Actor category, Rustin's Coleman Domingo,
00:15 Oppenheimer's Cillian Murphy, and American Fiction's Jeffrey Wright are all first-time
00:19 Oscar nominees. If Murphy wins, he'll become the first Irish-born individual to win Best Actor.
00:25 When it comes to Best Actress, Anatomy of a Falls' Sandra Hooler and Killers of the
00:29 Flower Moons' Lily Gladstone are also first-time nominees. If Gladstone wins,
00:34 she will become the first Native American to win a competitive Oscar. As for Best Supporting Actor,
00:39 this marks the first nomination for American Fiction's Sterling K. Brown. And for Best
00:43 Supporting Actress, four of the five nominees are first-timers. They are Barbie's America Ferrera,
00:48 The Color Purple's Danielle Brooks, The Holdover's Davine Joy Randolph, and Oppenheimer's Emily Blunt.
00:54 As for more historic milestones that could be met on Sunday, Oppenheimer could tie or break
00:59 the record for the most Oscars won by a single film. The movie heads into the show with 13
01:03 nominations. The record for the most wins for one film is 11. That was accomplished by Ben-Hur in
01:09 1960, Titanic in 1998, and The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King in 2004. It's worth noting
01:15 four things could also tie the record, as it has 11 nominations. Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese could
01:20 become the oldest winner in the Best Director category at age 81 if he takes home the Oscar
01:25 for Killers of the Flower Moon. Plus, John Williams, age 92, could become the oldest winner
01:30 of a competitive Oscar if he wins Best Score for Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny.
