The Prince of Wales has warned that the world is in a “critical decade” to try and set the planet on a “healthier” path to deal with the climate crisis. William spoke in central London as he joined supporters of the Earthshot Prize Launchpad, a new platform aimed at helping develop and make potential climate change solutions a reality. He told guests, including former New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern who is an Earthshot Prize trustee: "From businesses, cities and governments; to activists, scientists and innovators, the ideas and ambition to set our planet on a healthier path do already exist. But this is urgent”. Report by Blairm. Like us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/itn and follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/itn

01:25 [APPLAUSE]
01:28 Thank you, Sanjay.
01:33 And good evening, everyone.
01:35 And thank you for joining us all at this wonderful venue
01:38 as we celebrate a landmark moment for the Earthshot
01:40 Prize, the development of Launchpad.
01:44 When I first started thinking about how
01:45 I might contribute to the collective global effort
01:48 to protect our planet in 2018, I knew
01:51 that I wanted to mobilize the enormous power of innovators
01:55 wherever they are in the world.
01:57 From businesses, cities, and governments,
02:00 to activists, scientists, and innovators,
02:04 the ideas and ambition to set our planet on a healthier path
02:07 do already exist.
02:11 But this is urgent.
02:13 We are in the critical decade right now.
02:16 And that is why, to have real impact,
02:18 we must focus on supporting and developing
02:21 as many solutions as possible and scale them at speed.
02:26 It is not an easy task.
02:28 We must overcome the challenge of getting capital
02:32 to the right sectors, solutions, and geographies.
02:35 And on that note, it is my pleasure
02:37 to introduce you to one of our Earthshot Prize trustees,
02:40 Jacinda Ardern.

02:48 Kia ora, and good evening.
02:51 It is my pleasure to be here as an Earthshot Prize trustee
02:54 and to moderate, I hope, a conversation which
02:57 will draw out some of the key challenges and opportunities
03:01 we face as an Earthshot community.
03:03 --investments that we need.
03:06 And because governments--
03:10 And--
03:12 To both of you, we have members of our financial community
03:16 present.
03:16 When they ask you, what did you do?
03:19 Yeah?
