Binulabog ng nakasusulasok na usok ang ilang ward ng Philippine General Hospital dahil sa sunog. Mabilis na inilikas ang mga pasyente kabilang ang ilang bitbit pa ang kani-kanilang swero. Umakyat pa sa ikatlong alarma ang sunog bago naapula.

00:30 Mel, Vicky, Emil, a fire broke out in one of the country's leading hospitals, the Philippine General Hospital.

00:38 Fortunately, no one was hurt in the so-called fire but many were evacuated earlier.

00:52 The Philippine General Hospital's patients were quickly evacuated after a fire broke out in the Gusali Medicine Ward.

00:58 The patients were transferred to the atrium or open area inside the main building

01:02 which is full and has an open space in front of the hospital on Taft Avenue.

01:07 Patients were also taken to Padre Faura Avenue in front of the Supreme Court to escape the fire and the blazing smoke.

01:16 Where was the fire?

01:17 Ward 1.

01:19 But what did they tell you? Did they leave?

01:21 We went out to save everyone.

01:24 Sheila Domingo was in her chemotherapy session when the fire broke out.

01:30 We went out because it was smoking. We couldn't do it. We were in a coma.

01:35 It was hard. We were scared. But we didn't panic.

01:40 According to the Bureau of Fire Protection Manila, they were stressed earlier in the afternoon when the fire broke out.

01:45 The fire was not yet extinguished.

01:47 According to Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, a spokesperson for the PGH, the fire started in the audiovisual room of the Department of Medicine of the hospital.

01:55 It was contained. The smoke entered the Ward 1 and 2 and the Ward 3 and 4.

02:03 That's why we evacuated the patients.

02:06 No one died. There was no casualty.

02:08 It reached the third alarm before the firemen were able to control it. It was 3.45 in the afternoon.

02:14 At 4.30, the fire was declared out.

02:17 Vicky, according to Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, the affected patients were evacuated to the Wards that were not affected by the fire.

02:31 The Wards 1 to 4 were still needed to be cleaned and to be sure that there was no smoke and that the patients were safe before returning to the confined Wards.

02:40 Meanwhile, the DOH is on standby if the patients need to be transferred from here to the PGH.

02:46 The DOH has also asked all hospitals to review their fire evacuation plans and to conduct a risk assessment.
