00:00At the nearing deadline for the closure of the POGOs in the country,

00:04the Labor Department held a job fair for the employees who will lose their jobs.

00:11But only a few of them showed up.

00:14Mark Salazar was there.

00:20The Labor Department held two special job fairs

00:24to raise money for the 27,000 displaced POGO workers.

00:29But in this job fair in Makati, only seven former POGO employees showed up.

00:35One of them is Mary Jane De Los Reyes, a former data analyst

00:39in an internet gaming licensee.

00:42Encoding bank transactions, deposit and withdrawals

00:46of players, online games.

00:49It's bigger compared to normal companies.

00:53When she was invited and I talked to others,

00:56they said their salary is low and decent, and it benefits the legal POGOs.

01:02We started with basic pay.

01:05I started with 14,000 plus allowance, 5,000.

01:12Then in four years, it increased.

01:15And we have allowances, like house allowance, incentives,

01:20and other allowances that they give.

01:25We also get government benefits.

01:28It's illegal.

01:31It used to be legal.

01:33It's a waste.

01:35It's okay.

01:37Actually, we get a minimum,

01:39but you won't feel the allowance and incentives.

01:44Mary Jane was hired on the spot in a job fair

01:47as an operations specialist in a small company.

01:50While Jude was hired as an asset specialist in a warehouse.

01:55The Bureau for Local Employment of DOLE noticed

01:58that there were few displaced POGO workers,

02:01even though they were told one by one.

02:04What our field offices have done is that,

02:06since we have contacts with their programs,

02:09we can immediately communicate the activities that we are doing,

02:13just like the job fairs that we are doing now.

02:17At the job fair in Paranaque,

02:1940 former POGO employees applied for jobs.

02:22Many of them were hired on the spot.

02:25They are kitchen staff who work at the POGO establishment.

03:00But he has a hard time keeping up with the labor market.

03:16that if this continues, the economy will be affected.
