00:00 ALS training is one of Wales's leading providers. We've been working with the WRU now for over
00:04 five years and the creation of a level four higher apprenticeship in sports development
00:09 is key to progressing young people in sport for the economy of Wales and obviously to
00:14 benefit the WRU.
00:16 Mae hwn yn drin o ddatbenu, mae'n bwysig iawn, partneriaeth ddiwedd gyda Met Gyrdydd i helpu
00:23 datblygu'r pobl ifanc sydd 'da ni am bach o swyddi am y dyfodol.
00:28 Working in conjunction with ALS and obviously the WRU, I think this gives people a fantastic
00:34 learning experience and I think that as we saw today with the two apprentices that got
00:39 up and delivered their experiences, they were talking to 140 people in a room there and
00:44 they were incredibly accomplished and very coherent in the way they put things across
00:48 so I found it quite inspiring actually.
00:50 I was a player myself and I seen the apprenticeship advertised and I thought that's completely
00:56 something I wanted to do. I've seen that a lot of people have come through the apprenticeship
01:00 and got really good jobs such as hub officers, rugby officers in the sporting world and I
01:05 just thought I need to do this, it's absolutely amazing and being a player myself I just have
01:10 that love for rugby, that passion for rugby.
01:12 So dwi'n chwarae o rygbi semi-professional i Pondypridd a ma dwi dal yn gobeithio gallu
01:18 chwarae yn y byd professional ond dwi'n mynd i wneud yr apprenticeship yma i gobeithio
01:24 cael rhywbeth i gwmpas nol arno hefyd.
01:26 I think the course is unique because we've designed it with Carl and Welsh Rugby and
01:30 with ALS training to actually build something that is useful for the skills development
01:35 of people in work but also in the academic skills development so that they're ready to
01:40 come to study if that's what they want to do.
01:42 So really really exciting opportunity, the cohort that I had, I had the likes of Dewi
01:46 Lake in there and Kayleigh Powell who are both now Welsh internationals. Kayleigh gone
01:51 on to GB so that really like family environment that you get from that and be able to like
01:56 make friends for life that was huge and invaluable but more importantly you go on to the course
02:00 expecting to just learn all about coaching but actually you get to see the game through
02:03 so many different eyes whether it be refereeing, whether it be team manager, you realise there's
02:08 so many different routes that you can go down so for me that's probably the best part that
02:12 I took from the course.
