00:08 Morning, so that's me outside Ballaster Hostel.
00:12 I'm just about to leave and head along the Deeside Way further east.
00:18 I'm pretty tired this morning. It's the first morning I've woken up so far.
00:23 I think we're only on day three where I have felt pretty knackered.
00:28 I'm just adjusting to the change, to meeting people, to walking, carrying a lot of stuff.
00:35 I just from sort of other solo trips and hikes, day three is actually usually the hardest, maybe mentally perhaps.
00:47 Having said that, I haven't done anything like what I'm doing at the moment, so we shall see.
00:52 Maybe there are, there will be, there will be harder days to come.
00:55 But really comfortable sleep at the Ballaster Hostel.
00:59 I met two workmen from Glasgow who were staying here as well.
01:05 They were really, really going, hitting it hard with the Budweiser cans and offered me one and some Chinese.
01:14 But I thought I'd actually venture out and I went to the fish shop, which is also owned by the Fife Arms.
01:24 So that was interesting. It's been a pretty quiet, quiet visit in Ballaster.
01:28 I'm going to crack on though, because I've got about 15 kilometres to walk today, I reckon.
01:49 To the left of the pavement, turn the corner, where you're heading up the village, you'll see the station with the tourist information.
01:59 So if you turn your head, you'll see a sweetie shop.
02:02 In between the station, which is a wee restaurant, which is part of the station, sweetie shop and there's an opening there.
02:11 Go down the steps, turn right and that's you on the Deeside Way.
02:15 You go so far, then you have to cross a road a wee slight to that direction and you'll see the path again and you're off and running.
02:41 Okay, so slightly confusing start on leaving Ballaster.
02:46 I was told go past the sweet shop, which is just there and then you'll come across the path.
02:54 So we're either looking at that or the kind of driveway.
03:01 My thoughts are probably this, but yeah, interesting. There's no signs at all.
03:09 So probably a lot of people get lost wandering around Ballaster.
03:13 Okay, so my instinct was wrong.
03:16 It looks like I'm just walking.
03:18 Yeah, just walking into basically someone's backyard.
03:26 So I'm going to turn around and I'm going to go down the other way to see if that's the right path.
03:33 I'm pretty delayed, but that's okay.
03:39 Got a lot of time, so we're all good.
03:43 It's great to know I can trust my instincts.
