00:00 When we are talking of the sixth mass extinction phase, we already are in two.
00:10 It is a carbon dioxide led thing.
00:14 Right?
00:15 And of the previous five mass extinctions, three were caused by the same reason, carbon
00:22 dioxide.
00:23 So, there is nothing new.
00:25 There is nothing you can contest.
00:27 There is nothing you can doubt the validity or prospects of.
00:31 We know what happens when carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rises.
00:36 It has happened before and thrice.
00:40 And it's happening for the fourth time.
00:41 Where is all this carbon coming from?
00:47 Who is emitting so much carbon in the environment?
00:50 Who is doing this?
00:51 You have to understand.
00:54 It's the darkness inside our minds that's emitting all the carbon.
01:03 And I understand it sounding too poetic.
01:06 But please stay with this.
01:10 Carbon emissions are coming from our ceaseless consumption.
01:18 The more we consume, the more we emit carbon.
01:27 In fact, everything that we take as important, everything that we take as a supplier of happiness
01:39 is very high on the list of things that emit carbon.
01:49 Why do we want to endlessly consume?
01:51 Be it a house, a car, the world, human beings, or animals.
02:01 We want to consume them because we simply have ignorance within.
02:08 We are born with an innate dissatisfaction.
02:12 And we think that a lot of consumption will take care of that dissatisfaction.
02:17 That's a simple reason.
02:19 Nothing very complicated, very spiritual in that.
02:23 You're not feeling good.
02:25 What do you do?
02:26 You purchase something on Amazon.
02:30 Or you go watch a movie.
02:32 Or you go eat something out.
02:36 So when do you feel the happiest?
02:42 When you have a new four-wheeler, that's when you're congratulated a lot.
02:47 Or when you have gone to the new exotic tourist destination, you post your pics.
02:55 You're supposed to be happy.
02:57 And others are supposed to congratulate.
02:59 And that's what happens.
03:01 And that's where all the carbon comes from.
03:03 I'm talking facts, not just poetry.
03:08 This is fact.
03:09 Carbon comes from air travel.
03:14 Carbon comes when you raise your comfort and convenience level.
03:21 Carbon emission is the highest in the developed world.
03:24 And even among the residents of the developed world, the top 1% to 5% in terms of economics
03:37 contribute way beyond their numbers.
03:42 The more ambitious you are, the bigger a chaser of money you are, the more you are pushing
03:52 the planet towards mass extinction.
03:55 That's what is happening.
03:58 It's as simple and as obvious as that.
04:03 And see how wonderful it is that some people will still say, "Oh, I didn't know.
04:09 I didn't know."
04:14 And each of us are micro mirror images of the ones who are contributing the maximum
04:25 to climate change.
04:28 It's just that they have the resources, the wherewithal to actually add a lot of carbon
04:34 to the atmosphere.
04:36 We don't have so many resources, but we have the same ambition.
04:41 We want to be like them.
04:43 They have a personal jet.
04:46 And you have reports available, public reports of celebrities using personal jets to cover
04:54 a distance of 30 miles, 40 miles, 50 miles.
05:02 Because they can.
05:03 That's a whim, that's a quid, because I can.
05:05 Else, how do I justify my life?
05:09 Why else am I earning so much?
05:13 The common man cannot match that.
05:16 What does he do?
05:18 He has to go to Jaipur from Delhi.
05:21 He takes a flight.
05:24 The highway is great usually.
05:28 Sometimes it's clogged, otherwise it's good.
05:30 But then sometimes flights are also delayed.
05:34 Sometimes flights can in fact just return to the base, given that the Delhi-Jaipur sector
05:41 experiences heavy fog in winters.
05:47 But that's what, some 250 kilometers or something?
05:50 And people want to still.
05:53 So it's the darkness in the mind that thinks that you are born to consume and consumption
06:03 will make you happy.
06:04 The fundamental philosophy of mankind is flawed.
06:08 We do not know who we are and why we are born.
06:12 That's the problem.
06:14 You are born suffering.
06:18 So the first thing that comes to your mind is pursuit of happiness.
06:24 And the market tells you that you can have happiness through consumption.
06:29 Come buy my stuff, it will make you happy.
06:31 And it does make you happy for a while.
06:33 It says that happiness is in the first place no cure for suffering.
06:39 Your problem is not that you do not have happiness.
06:41 Your problem is that you have suffering.
06:44 And happiness is no remedy.
06:47 First of all, happiness is no remedy.
06:49 Secondly, happiness that comes from consumption, far from being a remedy, is a problem, is
06:56 a huge, huge monster.
06:59 Mass extinction.
07:01 For the planet itself.
