For Levi, 25, owning a property isn't something he has even considered, as he has found himself 'sofa surfing' after the breakdown of his relationship. The 25-year-old dad-of-two currently lives at multiple addresses around the city, while working as a trainee line chef and kitchen porter at a local cafe.
"There's no chance of that (owning a home) with the way everything's going, prices are rising and rising and rising for houses," he says. "Truth be told it's out of the question, or when I'm about 80."

00:00 With the cost of living crisis biting and wages stagnating, getting on the property
00:04 ladder is becoming increasingly tricky. 25-year-old Levi is someone who knows about this struggle
00:11 all too well.
00:12 What about actually ever buying your own house? Is that something that could be in your future?
00:17 There's no chance of that with the way everything's going. Prices are rising and rising and rising
00:20 for houses. One of my family members bought a house for £80,000 and that was seven years
00:25 ago. Now we got told that if she was to buy that house again, it'd be over £100,000.
00:31 So it's gone up by over £20,000. So truth be told, that will never be in the question,
00:35 not unless it's buying it outright. And that's going to take years. By the time I'm probably
00:40 80. So probably not.
00:42 When you were growing up, did you think it would be easy to own your own house?
00:47 Yeah, through seeing it through family. My dad was a hard worker. So when I seen him
00:51 in the... Well, when we moved to multiple houses, and like we were moving around, I
00:55 kind of got that it was easy to get a house back then, I thought. But growing up, you
00:59 realise it's not. It's not easy at all. It's one of the hardest things to do, is get your
01:04 foot in the door.
01:05 How has the recent cost of living affected you?
01:08 Oh, yeah. I mean, I don't... So to say, I'll go out and meet a couple of friends and we'll
01:12 just go for a walk and a wander. But apart from that, I don't go out. I don't go out
01:15 for food. I don't go out for drinks like someone my age should. I don't do nothing. I quite
01:19 literally just stay indoors where I am and do nothing. Because I need to save and it's
01:24 too expensive nowadays. It's too expensive for how much I have left at the end of the
01:28 week.
01:29 How have financial struggles impacted your mental health?
