This is to help free up space in prisons. Do you think this is a good idea? Would it be beneficial to take pub privileges and football privileges away from criminals? Or would this not work in the long run?

00:00Who's going to police that then? So you're asking a barman to police somebody, you're
00:05going to check everybody in the door. Practicality, making statements is easy, but how are you
00:10going to police it? I'm not sure about that, I think that's a bit of a fool's paradise.
00:17In general I think you've got to find the right sentence to fit the crime, and the thing
00:22you don't want to be doing is ostracising people from society, at the same time, ideally
00:28if you commit crimes you need to face the right punishment, and it feels like, yeah
00:31sometimes that's present, but sometimes it's things like community service, and sort of
00:35cutting people out from other things doesn't seem like the most obvious fit.
00:39I mean can't they just wear a tag on the ankle like they used to, I mean what's this business
00:44about banning them from a bar or something, what difference does it make, you know?
00:48Do you think it would work in the long run, do you think they'd be able to police it?
00:52Well I don't get why, are they going to go to sports bars are they, is that the first
00:57thing they're going to do when they get out of prison, it seems a bit weird.
