00:49 captivating even non-bakers.

00:53 Most are drawn by his charming demeanour

00:59 details often overlooked when it comes to baking.

01:03 FMT Lifestyle recently had the opportunity to learn from the man himself,

01:08 uncovering the secrets behind his famous hand-rolled croissants.

01:13 The 59-year-old, who was originally a hairstylist,

01:16 discovered his passion for baking 20 years ago.

01:20 Today, teaching brings him even more fulfilment.

01:25 I started with just two or three students.

01:28 After maybe a few months, I'm full already.

01:32 Not only is Tay the owner of four bakeries in the Klang Valley,

01:36 he's also a consultant for many others and even supplies croissants to cafes.

01:42 And with demand booming,

01:44 Tay's sons have even jumped in to help with the classes,

01:47 mastering the art of pastry making alongside their dad.

01:51 After I started working as a baker,

01:54 then I slowly understand that maybe pastry is not just food,

01:58 it's more like an art, really.
