00:10Welcome to Paper Cup, Ampang Jaya's charming evening hangout by the roadside.

00:15Located opposite flat Saga Surya, this humble food and drink stand is the passion project

00:21of childhood best friends Heshwindran Murugaiya and Yugan Varma Ramasamy.

00:26I got to know him from secondary school.

00:29We both studied in SMK Jalan 3, Bandarbaru Bangi.

00:34So yeah, that's how we met.

00:38Eventually, Heshwindran pursued a career in the film industry, while Yugan Varma earned

00:43a degree in chemical engineering.

00:45But their bond stayed strong, and during tough times, they decided to create something meaningful

00:50together.

00:57Financial.

00:58Financial issues.

01:02They first set up shop in Bukit Bintang in November 2023, but were forced to relocate.

01:08In their present spot, Paper Cup has built a loyal following.

01:12But what makes it unique?

01:14It's their lineup of specialty drinks.

01:16Tea, coffee, and chocolate-based creations, each with unique flavors and combinations.

01:23So when we started, we started with tea.

01:25We don't use normal sugar, we use jaggery.

01:27Jaggery is natural sugar in Tamil.

01:30In English, I think it's organic palm sugar.

01:33So it doesn't give like a normal, usual brown sugar taste.

01:38FMT Lifestyle sampled their best-selling Dirty Ube Latte, a blend of coffee foam and milky

01:45ube or purple yam.

01:46And let's just say, it's a game-changer.

01:49Oh my god.

01:52Not too sweet, perfectly smooth, and easily a contender against any top coffee chain in

01:57Malaysia.

01:58If you're in the mood for something warm, their Jaggery Tea won't disappoint.

02:03Otherwise, go for the Iced Coco Jag, a refreshing mix of coconut, jaggery, and milk tea.

02:10Besides their drinks, the Pandan Nasi Lemak is not to be missed.

02:14It's incredibly comforting, especially with the sweet and spicy sambal, which has a touch

02:19of jaggery.

02:21Made by Hashvindran's mother, it also comes in a vegetarian version with oyster mushrooms.
