00:00 What do you think about the new player?
00:03 For sure, he's an amazing player. I knew more or less what to expect.
00:08 I had some chances in the first set, he handled it better than I did.
00:13 The set was a waste.
00:15 In the second set I tried to stay a bit more aggressive.
00:18 I started off feeling a bit better, then the rain came.
00:22 Then after it changed a little bit.
00:25 I'm really happy how I handled the situation on the court.
00:29 I'm just happy about the win today.
00:32 That's it.
00:33 Adam Ross, Florida Tennis.
00:37 Congratulations on the victory today.
00:41 Can you talk a little bit about what you think you did best,
00:45 especially in the last two sets, and how you'll build on that
00:49 moving forward through the tournament, please? Thank you.
00:52 I think I played with a little bit more intensity in general.
00:57 But it's also tough when the opponent is serving this well.
01:03 It's tough to get into the rally.
01:06 He's an amazing player.
01:09 He has so many huge weapons with the serve and the forehand.
01:13 Even the net game is really good.
01:16 I think he started off really well the match.
01:20 I just tried to stay focused about my service games,
01:23 which I made a couple of mistakes when he broke me.
01:26 But he played a good game in the first set.
01:29 That's it. Sometimes you have to accept it somehow,
01:33 which I've done. I just tried to stay mentally strong.
01:37 The next match we'll see what's coming.
01:40 It's a tough match. I don't know yet who I'm going to play against.
01:45 Let's see.
01:53 Jenny Craig, Nine Radio, Australia.
01:56 You'd never lost a set to him in the previous three matches.
02:01 How much of a level of concern was there today
02:05 with the way this match went,
02:08 until you really asserted yourself in that final set?
02:11 Every time when you lose one set, you have to be concerned.
02:16 But also before the match, you know more or less what to expect.
02:21 He's a player who has huge weapons, as I said before.
02:24 You have to control what you have to control.
02:28 But the other part you can't really control.
02:31 If he serves really, really good, especially in important moments
02:34 like he did today, it's tough.
02:37 I was...
02:40 When you are set down and then you are 4-0, 5-0,
02:46 it's fast that the match is over.
02:50 That's why today was a good day for me,
02:53 because I was in a really tough situation
02:56 and I handled it somehow to win.
02:59 That's why I'm happy.
03:02 Iroh Kofman, Iron Sports.
03:09 In the beginning of the match, the shadows in the court were a little unusual
03:12 in terms of when they come down half court, half bright, half dark.
03:15 Did that bother you at all?
03:18 When I entered with full, it was not me.
03:20 It was the match before.
03:22 Me was already full in the shadow.
03:25 As you were saying, you don't know who you've got next.
03:34 They're on now, still in early stages.
03:37 What do you know about Martin Dam?
03:40 And if you were to play Chris, what are your thoughts on that one?
03:45 Against Chris, I lost two years ago,
03:50 something like this, in Atlanta,
03:53 where I won doubles with Rayleigh then.
03:56 He is a really good player.
03:58 Good serve, moving really well.
04:01 Tough, tough player.
04:04 And the other one, I don't know.
04:07 So I have to learn.
04:09 My coach is out to watch a little bit of that match,
04:11 so he's going to give me some feedback.
04:14 But mostly I think I have to stay on my things,
04:17 what I have to do.
04:19 I'm going to study my opponent for sure,
04:21 but I try to stay on my intensity,
04:24 like I've done today in the second and third set.
04:28 And if it works good, if not, I have to find a solution like today.
04:32 So let's see.
04:34 For sure, tough match.
04:36 Third round in a big event.
04:39 Nobody comes there for no reason.
04:43 So I have to be really careful.
04:45 Jannik, I'm going to take you off the tennis court for just a minute.
04:48 I hope that's okay.
04:50 I know you were a champion skier.
04:52 I'm wondering if you still ski,
04:54 if you think it helps your athleticism,
04:56 if it helps your tennis,
04:58 and if you ever wonder whether you could have been a champion skier.
05:01 Thank you.
05:03 No, I don't think about this anymore.
05:05 But sometimes it's good for my mental part
05:11 to not stay on the tennis court doing some different things.
05:14 Going to ski for me is always a relief.
05:18 And images of back in the days come to my head.
05:23 And going with the friends, that's so nice.
05:28 Usually we make two days per year on the slopes.
05:34 So even this year we went these couple of days,
05:38 and it was really nice for me.
05:40 Just to recover also the mental side.
05:44 And that's it.
05:46 But you have to be careful.
05:48 It's going fast that you fall.
05:52 And hopefully it's not going to happen.
05:56 And that you break something,
05:58 and then there are big issues.
06:00 So I'm very calm on the skis now.
06:04 I'm not like the young kid I was before.
06:07 before.
