00:00 The government is unaware of a proposal to build a high-speed railway network to link Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan in Indonesia.
00:11 Transport Minister Lokes U Fook said Putrajaya had not given any approval nor held talks with the Bruneian firm behind the proposal.
00:20 He also said the company involved must also get Sabah and Sarawak's approval to build the high-speed rail track.
00:27 Lokes set the tender for a feasibility study on a similar proposal by Sarawak, though not for a high-speed railway, would only be open in May.
00:36 Over the weekend, Brunei-based Bruneji Utama Senjamberhad reportedly proposed starting a high-speed rail network in Borneo to reduce travel time between Brunei, Sarawak, Sabah and Kalimantan, Indonesia.
00:49 However, Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Oping said the state government was not approached or officially informed about the project.
00:57 The proposal for a railway linking Sabah and Sarawak to Indonesia is not new, having been proposed by Sarawak in the past.
01:05 Abang Johari had said the project would boost the region's economy.
