00:00 Star Media Group and Contemporary World Magazine signed an agreement on Monday to collaborate
00:07 on news sources and explore further cooperation opportunities.
00:11 The signing ceremony was held during the Contemporary World Cultural Exchange Roundtable discussion.
00:17 "Global South" is a term that signifies more than just a geographical direction.
00:23 It also represents the aspiration, challenges and spirit of nations striving for equality
00:30 on the global stage.
00:32 The need to enhance the representation and the voice of the global South country has
00:37 never been more critical as they often find their voices diluted in international dialogues.
00:44 There is strongly felt when some of the distorted views of the developed countries were much
00:49 amplified.
00:50 As media profession, we have the power and responsibility to disseminate and amplify
00:56 the true facts and voices of Global South.
00:59 In the context of China's efforts in Southeast Asia, we see challenges and also opportunities.
01:06 There lies a golden opportunity to bridge this divide to concerted media collaboration,
01:12 telling stories that resonate across borders and highlighting shared values and aspirations.
01:18 Let us commit to these exchanges not as a mere transaction, but as an investment in
01:24 our collective futures, the futures where every nation stands tall on the global stage.
01:30 "Global South" is a time of great importance for the development of human-cultural relations
01:36 between the two countries, especially the exchanges between our branches of media.
01:39 It is an important channel and platform for promoting civilizational integration.
01:44 President Xi Jinping proposed a global civilizational initiative in March last year.
01:50 He had a very friendly exchange with Prime Minister Anwar.
01:55 The two countries built a good consensus on the Sino-Malaysian community of destiny,
02:00 thus opening a new chapter in Sino-Malaysian relations.
02:03 At the roundtable discussion, the panelists said the good relationship between China and
02:08 ASEAN will see more exchanges and investments in the region.
02:12 University Kebangsaan, Malaysia Institute of Malaysian and International Studies, Director-Professor
02:18 Dr. Sufian Jusoh said, "Few Malaysian universities have set up learning centers in China" and
02:24 "Many Chinese students also pursue higher education in Malaysia."
02:29 Director of Institute of China Studies at University Malaya, Dr. Neo Chow Bing said,
02:34 "The understanding of China, especially from the academic point of view, is confined to
02:39 local Chinese communities, and more needs to be done to deepen the understanding."
02:44 Thank you.
