00:00 Good afternoon, let's update on the weather today, Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
00:07 At the moment, the high pressure is reaching the eastern part of the northern and central zone.
00:14 If the high pressure area reaches a specific area, we expect the chances of rain to be lower.
00:21 For the weather in Metro Manila and our entire province,
00:25 we expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies, chances of localized thunderstorms are possible.
00:31 Our colleagues in the Regional Services Division will issue thunderstorm advisory,
00:36 rainfall advisory or heavy rainfall warning if necessary.
00:40 We also do not monitor low pressure areas or storms inside or near our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:47 For the weather tomorrow, because of the reach of the high pressure area,
00:52 we expect the chances of rain to be lower in the Cagayan and Isabela areas.
00:57 And in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies,
01:01 there are still chances of localized thunderstorms.
01:05 The temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius,
01:14 16 to 25 degrees Celsius in Baguio, 26 to 33 degrees Celsius in Lawag.
01:20 The temperature in Puerto Princesa ranges from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius,
01:26 25 to 33 degrees Celsius in Calean Islands.
01:30 For the weather in Visayas and Mindanao, chances of localized thunderstorms are possible.
01:38 The temperature in Iloilo and Cebu ranges from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius.
01:44 In Tacloban and Caguiende Oro, the maximum temperature will reach 32 degrees Celsius.
01:50 In Davao, the maximum temperature may reach 34 degrees Celsius,
01:55 and 33 degrees Celsius in Zamboanga.
01:58 We still do not have a high gale warning for any town in our country.
02:03 For the three-day weather outlook of our cities,
02:07 we expect that in Metro Manila, Baguio City, Legazpi City, and a large part of Luzon,
02:14 there are still chances of thunderstorms,
02:16 and it is possible for it to rain.
02:18 Localized thunderstorms or rainy days.
02:21 The temperature in Metro Manila in the next three days will be 24 to 34 degrees Celsius,
02:27 17 to 27 degrees Celsius in Baguio, and 24 to 33 or 32 degrees Celsius in Legazpi City.
02:36 For Visayas, we expect localized thunderstorms.
02:41 The temperature in Metro Cebu in the next three days will be 26 to 33 degrees Celsius,
02:47 26 to 33 degrees Celsius in Iloilo City, and 25 to 32 degrees Celsius in Tacloban City.
02:55 For Mindanao, we expect that in Metro Davao and in the Silangang area of Mindanao,
03:05 it is possible for it to rain.
03:07 There are chances of low-pressure areas or Easterlies for Thursday and Friday,
03:11 but the weather is better when Saturday comes.
03:14 In Mecaguiendeoro City, Zamboanga City, and the rest of Mindanao,
03:18 we expect chances of localized thunderstorms.
03:22 The temperature in Metro Davao will be 25 to 33 degrees Celsius,
03:28 25 to 32 degrees Celsius in Mecaguiendeoro City, and 24 to 34 degrees Celsius in Zamboanga City.
03:36 In March 22, we terminated the rainy season, and now we are in the dry season.
03:44 And because we are in the dry season, we are also seeing heat indexes.
03:49 This heat index is different from the air temperature because this is the heat that we feel.
03:54 The heat index is computed with the humidity.
03:58 So we expect that when the heat index reaches 33 to 41 degrees Celsius,
04:04 so the heat factor, extreme caution, 42 to 51 degrees Celsius,
04:10 it is dangerous because heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible,
04:15 while heat stroke is probable with continued exposure.
04:19 Then 52 degrees Celsius, it is also dangerous because heat stroke is possible.
04:26 Because of this, what are the important survival information for heat-related illnesses?
04:34 So first, what are the causes of this?
04:37 So first, of course, if we are continuously exposed to hot weather,
04:42 exhausting activities in warm weather,
04:45 age for adults and children,
04:49 weak immune system, high cholesterol, obesity, and chronic alcoholism.
04:56 What are the symptoms of this?
04:59 Sweating, exhaustion or fatigue, dizzy, lightheadedness,
05:06 blackening out or feeling dizzy while standing, weak but fast pulse,
05:14 feeling nausea or nauseous and vomiting.
05:18 How can we avoid this?
05:21 First, of course, we limit our time outside,
05:24 drink a lot of water, avoid drinking hot drinks like tea and coffee,
05:29 including soda and alcohol.
05:33 And then when we go out and it's hot, we always bring an umbrella, hat, and long sleeves.
05:41 Schedule heavy-duty activities for the beginning or end of the day.
05:44 So this morning or afternoon or night, where it's colder.
05:49 What should we do for emergency response?
05:53 And for those who are already exposed to too much heat,
05:57 we should put the person in a shady spot and then elevate their legs.
06:03 If the person is conscious, let them drink cold water.
06:07 Then next is to remove their clothes, put cold water on their skin, and ventilate.
06:15 Apply ice packs to armpits, wrists, ankles, and groin,
06:19 and it's important to bring them to the hospital immediately.
06:23 So we can see the heat index on our website, pagasa.dost.gov.ph/underweather,
06:29 we can see the heat index.
06:32 In Manila, the sun will set at 6 to 8 pm and rise tomorrow morning at 5.51 am.
