00:00 >> What's that?
00:02 >> I said I had to raise it a little bit today, you're taller today.
00:05 >> Happens when you win, I guess.
00:06 >> All right, even the series today, broken five game losing streak,
00:11 what you like about what you saw from the two today?
00:13 >> Well, I think the squeeze in the eighth was huge.
00:18 It gives two run lead instead of a one run lead, but
00:22 I thought the park play really difficult.
00:26 And I thought there was some really good plays that weren't,
00:30 when the ball goes up in the air, you just think, okay, it's a routine out.
00:33 But on a day like today, I thought Sam Myers and Chase Brunson and
00:37 a little bit with Luke and Wright.
00:39 But I thought they played a phenomenal job in terms of the outfield defense with
00:42 a 20, 30 mile an hour win that was kind of blowing the ball all over the place.
00:47 So I thought that was really key.
00:49 And then, HL doing his thing, and my big thing was to collect,
00:55 get a good taste in his mouth, coming off the heels of something that
01:00 he didn't wanna have happen to him at Cincinnati on Sunday.
01:04 But like I said, use your good experience and enjoy the moment.
01:08 And I think obviously he comes in versus second over the out,
01:10 and I think what punches out the side.
01:12 So yeah, really good.
01:15 I mean, gotta find a way to win.
01:16 It was a gritty win, and
01:18 now it's about trying to replicate that and be ready to play more.
01:22 >> Talk about Luis Rodriguez.
01:25 He gives up two runs in the second half.
01:26 How big was it for him to throw a three and
01:28 a third scoreless after giving up those runs?
01:31 >> Sure, I mean, anytime that we scored first,
01:34 then they punch right back with a two spot.
01:37 And when things aren't going great,
01:39 the human nature is to go, shoot, right?
01:46 And I thought he bounced back in terms of just threw up a couple more zeros.
01:50 And the only thing that we talked to him about today is your winners think,
01:54 act, and behave a lot differently than non-winners do.
01:59 And we had discussed in terms of we have a room full of winners, and
02:02 it's a matter of thinking, acting, and behaving like that more consistently.
02:07 And sports are a very difficult test of,
02:11 especially baseball, of your mental will.
02:14 And it'll test you more than any other sport, I think.
02:20 And I thought they did a really good job in terms of dugout was great.
02:24 I thought they did a really good job of being able to think like winners and
02:30 expect to win because they're winners.
02:32 And so it was good for them to get that taste in their mouth.
02:35 And now it's about being desperate for that taste again tomorrow, so.
02:39 >> You talked yesterday about needing your experienced players to make plays.
02:43 >> Yeah.
02:44 >> Junior, senior, and two fifth year guys driving runs today.
02:47 What's that like? >> All right, yeah.
02:48 >> Feel good?
02:49 >> Yeah, feels good to smile.
02:53 But no, I think with any team, you can't teach experience.
02:59 And that's what we kinda relied on heavily today, like you said.
03:02 And then not in terms of grade, but in terms of what they did last year for
03:08 us, Louis, Ben, and Clayton.
03:10 And it was kinda like one of those deals where it's, hey,
03:14 it's your time to have some competitive greatness.
03:16 And I thought they did that.
03:18 I thought they, when it got tough, I think they showed their experience.
03:21 And like you said, Curtis had a couple hits, Peyton had to squeeze.
03:26 Silva had a couple hits.
03:28 So I mean, we're gonna need more of it.
03:30 We're gonna need more of it and get that contagious energy of behaving and
03:34 thinking like winners and doing it more consistently.
03:36 >> Do you have an update on Brody from last night?
03:41 >> Yeah, I mean, sometimes you gotta protect the player from themselves.
03:47 He was operating, we felt like he was operating at 90% and
03:51 he felt like he could go.
03:55 And it was one of those deals where he moved around in practice pretty well.
03:58 And then during our defensive evaluation before the game yesterday,
04:02 he was bouncing around better than he had for a really, really long time.
04:07 And I think one of those freak deals where he goes down to a knee,
04:11 reaching for a ball, and then all of a sudden it gets him.
04:13 So I mean, at this point, it's probably something that's gonna be
04:18 quite a while just because we can't, it seems like once we push it,
04:22 it tends to not pay out very well.
04:24 So we have quite a few guys in that kind of area.
04:29 They're getting it out and not being at 100% and stuff,
04:35 but they're giving us everything that they got.
04:37 >> Any insight of who's starting tomorrow?
04:40 >> Tomorrow? >> Yeah.
04:40 >> Tall human being.
04:41 >> Okay, sounds good.
04:43 >> Thanks.
04:44 >> Yeah. >> All right, thank you.
04:45 >> Thanks, Coach.
