00:00Hello there, this is me, Ansh Kumar Pandey, and you are watching One India English.
00:14A prominent American author had once stated that voters don't decide issues, they decide
00:19those who will decide those issues.
00:22The statement today completely captures the essence of democracy, especially if we talk
00:27of the Indian elections.
00:29With just four days remaining before the first phase of voting for the 102 seats in
00:34India, the excitement is surrounding the election campaign and it has indeed reached new heights.
00:41The candidates right now are making bold promises to tackle poverty and create a new state too,
00:47while others are also engaged in heated debates like the confrontation between the two boys
00:52of Bihar in New Delhi.
00:55Surprisingly even the Russian President Vladimir Putin has become a topic of contention in
01:00Indian elections.
01:02In this edition of Poll Perls, also known as Poll Rap, we bring you the latest updates
01:06of the Lok Sabha elections that you might have missed.
01:12Starting with none other than the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, against whom a whole
01:16alliance has been formulated also known as the India bloc.
01:20But the face of that bloc has not been decided yet.
01:24However, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Party leader, who is most likely trying his best
01:29to lead the bloc, has came up with a new promise to end poverty in just one step.
01:35In his own words, we say it again, that paisa khata khat khata khat aata rahega aur ek
01:39jhatke mein gareebi khatam kar degi.
01:42Now in a reply, Prime Minister Modi during a rally in Pipuria, Madhya Pradesh derided
01:48Gandhi's statement to that of a royal magician, also known as a shahi jadugal.
01:54Highlighting the irony of his family's past promises, he ridiculed Gandhi's claim, questioning
02:00its sudden emergence after decades of political silence.
02:05Modi also dismissed the Congress leadership's pledge, mocking it as a comedic spectacle
02:10rather than a genuine solution for the problem.
02:13He emphasized the absurdity of Gandhi's proposal, especially considering his party's
02:18governance history over the last 70 years.
02:22The PM ridiculed the notion of a quick-fix solution to poverty, reminding the audience
02:27of empty promises made by the Congress Party over the last 70 years.
02:32He also criticized Gandhi's lack of credibility and accused him of a mockery of the poor with
02:36his unrealistic and unfounded promises.
02:41Have a look yourself what PM Modi stated.
04:11Well, it's actually a known thing and a very familiar phrase that PM Modi refers to
04:23the Congress leader as Shehzadegi, mocking him as royal connection of the Gandhi family,
04:29as the ruler of the Gandhi family.
04:31Oh yes, and talking of the Gandhi family and the Congress Party, a new fresh phase has
04:37developed in New Delhi, where Manoj Tiwari is now gearing up to contest against Congress's
04:43Kanhaiya Kumar, the well-known JNU leader, often criticized for his association with
04:49Omar Khalid.
04:50Firstly, the news, the Congress Party has nominated youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar to contest
04:57from the Northeast Delhi seat against the incumbent BJP MP, Manoj Tiwari.
05:02This decision follows a seat-sharing agreement with the Aam Aadmi Party, allowing the Congress
05:07to contest on three seats in Delhi.
05:10Kanhaiya Kumar is currently serving as the All India Congress Committee AICC in charge
05:15of the National Student Union of India NSUI, and he sees this move as a demonstration of
05:21party's strength and commitment to the electoral battle in Delhi.
05:25He has vowed to continue to fight for justice and uphold the party principles too inside
05:31Delhi.
05:32And, on the other hand, Manoj Tiwari, who is seeking a re-election for a second term
05:37as MP from Northeast Delhi, has indirectly criticized Kumar's candidacy referring him
05:42to the Tukde Tukde gang controversy.
05:45Without naming Kumar, Tiwari questioned the responsibility for those associated with such
05:50group who allegedly disrespect the country and its armed forces.
06:32For the unaware, Kanhaiya Kumar had joined Congress back in 2021 and had contested the
06:37Lok Sabha elections from Bihar's Begusarai constituency, albeit it was unsuccessful against
06:43BJP's Giriraj Singh.
06:46Coming to the next development, now as if carving Uttarakhand out of Uttar Pradesh wasn't
06:52enough for the politicians, the BSP Supremo or the BSP leader Mayawati has made yet another
06:59startling claim.
07:00The claim is, wait for it, making Western UP another state out of Uttar Pradesh.
07:07The Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati on Saturday stated that her party will take concrete
07:13steps to make Western UP a separate state if voted to power at the centre.
07:19There has been a long-standing demand of the statehood by the people of Western Uttar Pradesh.
07:25For this, concrete steps will be taken if her government comes to power at the centre,
07:31Mayawati told The Gathering.
07:33Well, the BSP is fighting this Lok Sabha election alone and is actually not a part of the India
07:39bloc, neither of the NDA.
07:41However, 25 years ago, Uttarakhand was carved out of Uttar Pradesh as a separate state.
07:47The BSP chief also claimed that if the free and fair elections are held without voting
07:52machines and EVMs are not tampered, then the BJP will not return to power this time.
08:22Okay, now picture this, just 4 days before the voting spectacle, the spotlight is now
08:49turned towards none other than Russian President Vladimir Putin.
08:53Not as a political meddler, but as an unlikely yardstick for comparison with our own Prime
08:59Minister Narendra Modi.
09:01The NCP luminary Sharad Pawar took centre stage on Sunday drawing parallels between
09:07Modi and the Russian President Putin.
09:09Pawar, with his trademark wit, accused Modi of trading the path which has been paved by
09:16Vladimir Putin, orchestrating what he deems a gradual erosion of India's parliamentary
09:21democracy.
09:23Not one to mince words, Pawar also lambasted the BJP for its failure to deliver on the
09:28grand promises it peddled during the previous Lok Sabha elections, all while shamelessly
09:34flaunting aspirations of clinching over 400 seats in the upcoming polls.
09:38He was basically trying to criticise PM Modi's ab ki baar 400 paar remark.
09:43These statements by Pawar unfolded in Solapur district, where he conveyed a gathering at
09:49the residence of former Chief Minister Vijay Singh Mohite Patil in Akluj.
09:55Accompanied by the venerable Sushil Kumar Shinde and the coterie of MVA dignitaries,
10:00Pawar dived into the deliberations on the electoral battleground, especially the pivotal
10:05constituencies of Madha and Solapur.
10:09And at last, BJP apparently has finally decided to use security also as another main issue
10:15in the Indian elections.
10:18Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh has come up with a new remark.
10:22You want to hear what it is?
10:24Well, have a look at this.
10:26UP CM Yogi Adityanath addressed a meeting in UP's Muradabad on 13th April, where he
10:31attacked, opposition claiming that they have failed to act against gangsters like the BJP.
10:37Addressing the gathering, he hit out at the opposition saying that they consider their
10:42birthright to play with the people's faith.
10:44Also he lambasted that by supporting criminals, he stated and we quote, they were making mafias
10:51and criminals of their own.
10:53These people used to compromise on the security of the people, daughters and businessmen of
10:58the state.
10:59This BJP government does what it says.
11:02Today, mafias and criminals are either in jail or are rotting in hell.
11:07This kind of safety and security was only possible in BJP's government, not in the
11:11government of those who used to walk around in the guise of mafias and criminals.
11:18These were the exact words of Yogi Adityanath.
11:24Have a look what he stated.
13:08Well, indeed this election is getting pretty interesting now and let us make this very
13:16sure to you.
13:17Now as the time reaches its falling point, that is 4th of June, the result day, every
