00:00 Things are really starting to heat up here on this site at Brunswick Heads in northern
00:07 New South Wales.
00:08 This is a site that is slated for a housing development, 124 houses across 18 hectares.
00:17 The developer, Clarence Properties, has the legal right to go ahead with this development,
00:22 but that's not preventing protesters from occupying this site for two months in a bid
00:28 to stop that work from taking place.
00:31 They say this is a zombie DA that does not meet current environmental standards.
00:36 We don't want this incredible natural habitat to be destroyed for multi-million dollar homes
00:41 that are only going to lie in the pockets of the developers.
00:44 All these DAs have approval, none of them should go ahead, at the very bare minimum
00:47 they need to be assessed under today's standards.
00:50 The developer on the other hand says they have the right to go ahead and they intend
00:54 to do so.
00:55 Today we've had around 150 protesters on site, around about 30 police and the action is likely
01:04 to be the first of a lot more to come.
