00:00That's good. Good to see everybody.
00:02All right.
00:04Practice number seven done.
00:06So we're close to halfway
00:08and we're excited about
00:10the competitive toughness
00:12that we'll see from this team.
00:14Really, really excited about that.
00:16A lot of experience obviously
00:18coming back on defense, but man
00:20we've had great competition
00:22from all the way back to
00:24Matt Rose. Whether it's the new guys,
00:26returning players,
00:28new players within our program
00:30that have a new opportunity
00:32to go and win jobs.
00:34Guys are showing up with
00:36purpose and with passion
00:38and the intensity that you want to see
00:40with the physical toughness
00:42that the game demands.
00:44Really thrilled with those things.
00:46If I was having to get guys to
00:48do those things in a better way
00:50or if we were
00:52not meeting those standards
00:54it would be a lot of fun.
00:56Saw a lot
00:58from the veterans that I really like
01:00and again
01:02a lot of first year
01:04players that I really
01:06love too.
01:08Great competition in particular
01:10in the linebacker
01:12safety at corner
01:14in our back seven.
01:16Pretty good competition
01:18at the defensive end.
01:20Really like our group of inside players
01:22being tackled and off the
01:24line wise.
01:26We
01:28got some bad news
01:30with Troy. He's going to have a
01:32surgery but we'll hope to see him
01:34back by the end of
01:36fall camp or so.
01:38If anybody can do it, he will.
01:40Any physician that you can do it, he will.
01:42He's going to get great doctors
01:44and a great plan for him. He's going to have his surgery
01:46tomorrow.
01:50I really like again
01:52where we're
01:54at. All things considered,
01:56watching these guys get better.
01:58Again,
02:00Josh Bates will slide in there and play some
02:02center.
02:04Josh will serve some.
02:06Aaron Hatchett can always play some.
02:08Play guard,
02:10play all five positions.
02:12Jake Taylor,
02:14Jacob Sexton,
02:16have done really, really well.
02:18Logan Highland, along with Spencer
02:20Brown and Michael Tarquin,
02:22those guys have all done a really, really nice job
02:24trying to
02:26gel together and learn.
02:30Some of the new guys learn
02:32what we need them to do.
02:34Isaiah Archer has been doing
02:36some really good things.
02:38Inside,
02:40like where we're at,
02:42we feel good about the guys that we have
02:44inside. Some of them have
02:46experience and some of them
02:48don't have as much experience,
02:50but like what we have
02:52and what's coming,
02:54both.
02:58We've got some great young players
03:00that have a chance to be really, really special
03:02when we get to that
03:04winning level
03:06soon arriving later.
03:08We're tight in the group.
03:10They're healthy.
03:12It's going to be a heck of a group even when we're
03:14semi-healthy there.
03:16We're in a little better position with the guys
03:18capable of playing.
03:20Also,
03:22Bower Shark
03:24has been really good.
03:26Prior to
03:28pulling this
03:30slight hamstring,
03:32the helms look really, really good.
03:34Josh,
03:38Cade, both have
03:40really flashed.
03:42Jake,
03:44he's a very
03:46experienced guy. We know exactly
03:48what he's going to bring to the table.
03:50Physical toughness
03:52as well as
03:54a really capable
03:56catch the ball
03:58really well.
04:00Receiver got great competitive depth there.
04:02Love where we're at
04:04at that position both inside and outside.
04:06We've got
04:08a good group of running backs
04:10with experience.
04:12Saw Chuck and Barnes
04:14and Hicks
04:16and Sammy.
04:18They've done some really,
04:20really good things.
04:22Several explosive plays.
04:24Again, overall, we've had a lot
04:26of explosive plays through the first
04:28seven practices. It's something that's
04:30shown up every single day.
04:32The quarterbacks
04:34have great vision, great instincts,
04:36good decision-making.
04:38Starting with Jackson
04:40with accuracy.
04:42Do a good job
04:44from a leadership standpoint.
04:46Taking command of things.
04:50Jim has done some really good things
04:52doing quarterbacks.
04:56Mike Hawkins has done some really good things
04:58as well.
05:00And then
05:06kickers.
05:08Kickers have been
05:10very pleased with what we've seen.
05:12Kickers have been
05:14good. Kelby
05:16has been
05:18really good as well.
05:20Super consistent.
05:22And then Green-Evans
05:24has shown some great things too.
05:26We've gotten
05:28the live kicking
05:30when it comes to punting
05:32and kickoffs and all that.
05:34Things that we do here on Thursday
05:36when we're full screen.
05:38We've had part of the practice
05:40of scrimmage.
05:42Working on a lot of situational stuff right now.
05:44Trying to take them to some dark places
05:46as we've got to do.
05:48This is that time of the year
05:50where they've got to take themselves and we've got to take them too.
05:52As coaches, we've got our team,
05:54we've got our best mindset, our attitude.
05:56We've got to nurture
05:58how we do what we do.
06:00What that means. Putting on the jersey.
06:02Putting the pads on. Coming to work.
06:06Practicing at 7-0. You can't go back and do it again.
06:08So not wasting opportunities.
06:10Show up here and get
06:12the purpose and the passion and the toughness
06:14as they require.
06:16Learning that you can't pay.
06:18That's what it takes.
06:20So I like it.
06:22I'm not surprising anybody
06:24when I tell them that.
06:26You've got the right guys
06:28and a lot more under your tree.
06:30Those things too from a leadership standpoint.
