00:00 A buffalo comes and the buffalo looks at the two of us.
00:07 And if the buffalo were wise, we are appending the whole thing.
00:10 Now the buffalo is wise and you are being zanoor.
00:13 Were the buffalo wise, what would the buffalo find in common between the two of us?
00:25 We are both bipeds.
00:28 We both have the same physique.
00:35 That's a difficult question.
00:47 I am not really sure, sir.
00:52 So there is the instinct to know.
01:00 Buffalos since millions of years of their existence have never wanted to really understand
01:08 what is it to be a buffalo, what the grass is like, where does the thunderstorm come
01:12 from, why is the grass green at all.
01:18 Buffalos don't reflect or meditate, buffalos are never keen to reflect, realize, understand.
01:25 No buffalo ever asked herself the question, who am I?
01:30 Now this one comes with a disclaimer.
01:31 I am not a buffalo, so I can't be entirely sure.
01:34 But just looking at buffalos from where I do, I do not think that they are introspecting
01:38 or meditating.
01:41 They continue in the way they are, right?
01:43 You're born a buffalo, you live as a buffalo, you die as a buffalo.
01:46 There is no urge to rise, to know and to be liberated from inner ignorance.
01:56 So that's what unites me and you.
02:01 And then that alone has to be the basis of our community, our society.
02:13 All our rules, laws, policies, conventions, customs have to be founded on the underlying
02:20 unity, the unifying principle.
02:22 The unifying principle is liberation.
02:26 Liberation beyond liberty.
02:28 Liberty is good, but liberty is a small thing.
02:31 Liberation is beyond liberty.
02:34 Liberation, understanding, realization.
02:40 So if, as the head of the government, I have to impose a policy, the policy will say, you
02:46 know, in this area you cannot remain uneducated.
02:54 Because being a human being, obviously you have to know, you want to know, you must know.
03:01 So kindly have the basic education.
03:02 If you have arrived here uneducated, we will ensure, we will subsidize and we will have
03:08 you educated.
03:09 And that's what is common between all the people, the residents, the citizens here.
03:15 We all are educated.
03:18 Now that's the foundation of our unity, our education.
03:24 You are educated, so am I.
03:25 So the two of us have something in common.
03:28 You have an urge to understand, so have I.
03:31 And that's what we have in common.
03:35 So what does that mean?
03:36 That means systems will be transparent.
03:39 Because I want to know and the system doesn't want to reveal, now there is a conflict.
03:44 So systems have to be transparent.
03:48 Professors in universities have to be accessible.
03:54 Systems have to be continuous and practical and grounded in reality.
04:07 Are you getting it?
04:13 And that's when we can say, you know, yes, yes, yes, we belong to this place and this
04:18 is what we have in common.
04:22 But if you say we belong to this place and what we have in common is the language, then
04:27 that's not a very sustainable basis of unity.
04:31 Because you see that's an exclusive basis, it excludes, right?
04:36 It says someone speaking some other language comes here and we will treat him as an alien.
04:42 Someone comes here whose facial features are different and we will call them by some name.
04:50 Some not so pleasing name.
04:54 Right?
04:55 No, no, no.
04:58 The buffalo does better than us when it comes to these things.
05:04 There is very little, there is very little evidence of color based discrimination in
05:11 the buffalo universe.
05:14 Or in the cow or goat or camel universe.
05:16 We have not seen that.
