00:00 A devastating scene. West Terrace in Adelaide CBD in October 2021. The night Luigi Glagora
00:10 in a drug-induced psychosis sped away from police officers and crashed his ute into an
00:16 innocent driver making his way home from work. That driver, Ben Hyde, speaking outside of
00:23 court today.
00:24 I feel like today was definitely a just outcome.
00:28 Mr Hyde and his supporters relieved. Two and a half years on from the night that changed
00:33 his life forever.
00:34 110km/h over the posted speed limit, that's wildly reckless behaviour which as a community
00:42 we can't stand for.
00:44 Judge Nicholas Alexandridis sentenced Glagora to four years and 13 days with a non-parole
00:50 period of two years. He found Glagora acted in a deliberate and willful manner, travelling
00:57 at a speed he described as simply mind-boggling.
01:01 Mr Hyde tells the court that your offending has changed his life forever. Medical professionals
01:07 have informed him that he will never be able to return to his previous role and it is unlikely
01:13 he will ever be able to work full-time again.
01:16 Glagora will also be disqualified from holding a driver's licence for 12 years from the day
01:22 of his release.
01:24 The judge took Glagora's apology and genuine remorse, his mental state, personal circumstances
01:30 and prospects for rehabilitation into account. He received a discount of more than 5% for
01:37 his guilty plea.
