00:00Among the 88 national participations to the 60th Biennale d'Arte of Venice,
00:09in the care of Adriano Pedrose, entitled Stranieri Ovunque,
00:12also that of the Sultanate of Lomane, present for the second time.
00:16Cared for by the artist and gallerist Ariel Farsi,
00:19the exhibition of the Lomane Pavilion at Palazzo Narragero,
00:22entitled Malaz, or Sanctuary,
00:24brings together the works of famous contemporary humanitarian artists
00:27that highlight the essence of the multicultural heritage of the Arab country.
00:31Of course, for us, this second participation in the Venice Biennale,
00:36and we are happy with this participation in a very important celebration,
00:40I worked on a wall, which is about Oman and ancient cities.
00:47To inspire the artists, also the local raw materials projects.
00:51The participation is a very valuable opportunity to present the Omani marble as a canvas,
00:55distributed in the cities of Oman in different colors.
00:58And from here, the gathering of strangers began,
01:02because the marble everywhere becomes a different color,
01:05so for me, it is strange from each other,
01:07but it gathers in one hall.
01:10This is the first link with the theme of the Biennale.
01:14Contemporary art is also a carrier of the identity of the Omani people.
01:18My work is also consistent with this idea and vision.
01:21There is a kind of research before the implementation of the work,
01:24in the name of supporting or extending the cultural communication
01:27in our region.
01:29I also try to integrate some of the Arabic words as an identity of our environment,
01:33with a contemporary and modern understanding,
01:36in cooperation with the world of the Biennale.
01:39To investigate the uses and customs of the Omani people,
01:42also a work designed to highlight the values of generosity and hospitality of the territory.
01:47My work is about customs, history and Arab traditions,
01:52about generosity and hospitality in our hearts and in our homes.
01:58Among the artists exhibited at the Oman Pavilion,
02:01there are also those who choose to use visual art to talk about immigration.
02:05The title of the work I participated in is called The Destiny of Strangers.
02:09The idea of the work is that I used the marble as a symbol for the stranger,
02:14because the marble is known for its traveling around the world.
