00:00 Mike Hampshire from Tours of Leeds became a full-time guide in 2022 with
00:05 his flagship Leeds Heritage pub and brewery tour exploring 300 years of beer
00:10 history. Enjoyed by locals and international visitors alike, his latest
00:14 tour dives into Leeds history by the water.
00:17 It's the Leeds Heritage waterfront audio tour and quiz challenge which is a name that really
00:21 rolls off the tongue I just call it the waterfront tour. There's 17 stops on there so
00:26 we actually start down at Marshalls Mill where we understand a little bit about
00:29 the history of the mill and how important it was to the Industrial
00:32 Revolution not just in Leeds but across the country as well. We then make our way
00:37 via pubs funnily enough to do with Heritage Beer Tour, arrive in Granary Wharf
00:43 walk alongside the Leeds River area really down past Asda House, visit the
00:48 David Ollowiley Bridge, there's another couple of great pubs around there as
00:51 well which is the Old Red Lion which has got Tales of Hauntings and the Adelphi
00:55 which was once hosted the Leeds UFO Club, through to Brewery Wharf and then all the
01:00 way down finishing up at the Lamb and Flag. This particular tour is delivered via the
01:06 Navicup app with Mike narrating and the answers to the quiz challenge are within
01:10 your surroundings. Over the last three centuries the waterway has completely
01:13 transformed from being this incredible industrial hub surrounded by huge
01:17 factories and mills and the waterway itself serving such an important purpose
01:22 for travel it transporting goods across the north of England. A beautiful thing
01:25 about Leeds really is it's actually the city centre is very walkable you know
01:28 when you go to other cities across the north they're quite quite vast centres
01:31 but Leeds is not like that and this waterfront actually goes right the way
01:34 through the middle of it so there's a great way of experiencing, everybody
01:37 loves water anyway don't they, it's just a nice relaxing thing to be walking by
01:41 but to hear the stories around what has happened in this area as you are doing
01:45 doing the tour is particularly great and you know Leeds is fast becoming a really
01:49 great tourist hotspot and you know guided tours whether you're a visitor
01:53 to the city whether you're someone who lives in the city this is actually a
01:56 great way to learn about the city whether you live here or you don't.
